Hello,

I have a small question in here. I know that Pirate ID, due to being generic, cannot hire Freelancers for other stuff than hauling stuff in a transport from point A to B. In short, Freelancer ID cannot help Pirate ID in piracy... during engagement. That I pretty know and understand.

I got a proposition in roleplay that Freelancer ID wanted to help us via hauling stuff for us.

Given the transport won't be participating in piracy (won't engage the buggers who refuse to pay/drop cargo, only defend itself in case of being targetted), can Pirate ID hire Freelancer transport to gather the loot demanded from traders, then sell it and split the credits from that?

I would probably like that sort of job to be taken up by a Junker ID, but I do not personally see any issue with this sort of cooperation. Though remember that IDs that can levy fines can still slap the freelancer along with the pirate on suspicion alone.

This shouldn't be an issue (FR5 can be a thing), since I simply wanted what actual rules says about such a scenario because it is... not really covered within rules in regard hiring. I mean, I've read Freelancer can be hired if Pirate ID hauls stuff. However, the thing I bring is quite mirrored - as two small pirates want to hire Freelancer transport.

There also goes the issue when Pirate ID cannot really defend said transport if it's pirated/attacked by third party. But this, I assume, would simply end up in scenario like "let's leave that guy behind and we'll be off".

Well, I suppose it will always depend on the circumstances of the situation. As for now, the rule that you are worried about reads thus. I highlighted the part that would imply that this situation you are describing is not covered by this rule and thus - is legal to do:

4. Mercenaries, freelancers and bounty hunters may be hired on the spot in game by non-generic IDed players to assist with combat without a forum post. The other parties involved in the combat must be made aware of this.

As I now look again at the rule, I'll do unrelated question with OP.

Does it mean, if there's forum roleplay that is visible to everyone ooRPly, the Freelancers can assist Pirate ID on basis of forum roleplay in combat? I'm sorry, but that's how I understand "without a forum post".
