By that argument, the Kusari wouldn't have an Emperor. In fact, by that argument, none of the Alliance houses would be similar to the ancient governments on Sol because they all got defeated.

I still stand by my point. It would be interesting to see exactly what kind of reasonable explanation would allow the French to have more resources individually than all those other houses put together, who each only managed to construct one Sleeper ship.

The idea behind the houses seems to be that they have reverted to their generalised ideals. Ok, it's simplistic, but it generates a lot of good interaction, and gives players a solid base to where their characters are coming from. I see that as a good thing.

And Kuraine has a good point there.

Anyone recall my post in some guy's welcome thread relating to the French Army? Something about poofy hats.

I don't want to start picking holes in things until we have ze whole story. Igiss may be accounting for their lack of resources, and may explain why the hell Nomads decided to use skullduggery instead of giant guns when they started the Nomad War. Wait and see, aye?

' Wrote:Hispania... well, having Outcast Navy and Corsair Police would be a bit strange. If the nations would unite, which is very unlikely in the Discovery time frame, than it would be possible. But now I don't see a way how this can be achieved, since both Outcasts and Corsairs are more pirate groups than Houses.

Agreed, in fact.

But soon you'll see some posts in faction creation with something like this. I'm searching some moderator advices for the issues, but maybe not all Hispanians are, or desire to be, pirates/terrorists/criminals, and maybe some of them wish to raise the name Hispania as high as (they think that) it should be.

Edit: PS.:

Once Igiss told about 'what could had happened after the sun thing', it recalled me some info I've heard about one intro movie of Freelancer *inserts malevolent laugh*

I believe I can shed light on the skull-duggery and lack of sun killing explosives on the Nomads' part.

First off, Sol was heavily weakened from decades (centuries?) of war, and while their technology was advanced, they were taken completely off guard and didn't have time to respond to the ZOMG ALIENS -> OMG NO SUN. They never got the chance to say "we come in peace."

Secondly, the humans in Sirius had eight hundred years of access to Daam K'Vosh artifacts and their own ingenuity to advance beyond what Sol ever saw, and worked miracles with it. Jump gates and trade lanes are evidence to this. They were powerful beyond reckoning when the Nomads in Sirius woke up, and the Nomads had no chance to simply "tank" humanity in an arms contest. To get control of Sirius, they needed to play humanity's strength against itself, and only apply themselves where absolutely necessary. Like in Alaska, or Omicron Minor.

Thirdly, the sun killer would NEVER get used in Sirius because that was not the will of the Daam K'Vosh. Sirius was set up as a playground for the Nomads (see published backstories) and humanity simply got there before the Nomads woke up. The Nomads were not too happy at this, and set about purging the human invaders defiling their birthright, while trying to bring it the least harm possible.

That, and there are some doubts to where exactly the sun killer came from. It is entirely possible that the Nomads from Sol are not the same Nomads from Sirius- possibly a splinter that stayed loyal to the Daam K'Vosh rather than sleeping, and would thus have developed much more advanced technology.

I believe that was a time limitation that meant only one sleeper-ship in the original launch..

if you read igiss's post then you'll see something vague said about the dark side of pluto... maybe thats where they did hide to build a new one...

Perhaps all those other houses were using much of their recourses for defense while the French hid behind them and directed all their energies towards multiple sleeper ships?
