No I came back a while ago, though I have actualy been a bit inactive for about a month so I guess I sort of came back again.
Thanks for the warm hello anyway.:D
I really will have to get to Tau-29 and try it without running around like crazy nutcase with no eyes...
Kiggles:laugh:
I've been mildly miffed by one-shot weapons since their implementation, oh so long ago. I remember the days when fights were a matter of who could aim better, rather than who could aim a single shot. - Virus
going back to topic. The SP campaign is HELL of hard. PSecially because the NPC like juni are expecting you to do ALL the important and difficult stuff.
You should have seen my face at the nomad BS mission, when i was told:
Juni: - Oh trent!! There is a big, fat a*s uber nomad battleship 10x more powerful than anything we've met before, and our ultra duper warfleet cant take it down. You need to go in your little puny $2 anubis fighter and beat the cra* outta it.
- Me: O_o. Ya kiddin' honey? (cruise engine switch...cruise engine switch... I wanna run outta here).
Same for the destroy-the-entire-RH-warfleet mission.
Piece of advice: Play OSP for a while before messing with the campaign.. but use crappy vanilla ships. That way, you will learn the ropes.
Then, you can go and try the campaign.
(If you find any mistake in my English, please let me know via a PM)
(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
Okay, i tested this today and I have to say that this mission is absolutely impossible, no exaggeration. You're already dead by the time the cut scene has faded back to interaction.
No, if you're lucky, you can survive. It's mostly luck though (read my first post in this topic :rtfm:). I did forget to mention though, that you may have to respawn about 5-10 times before you get lucky.

No downloading involved.
I did that and three days later (having backed up the files etc and returned them to normal before going back into game) I got temporarily banned for weapon hacks so I would really advise very very heavily against this. I had to talk with BULLDOGNK for rather a long time to get myself unbanned over it. I wasn't cheating but the anticheat thought I was. Had to re-instal fl completely from scratch on the night of a major event.
DO NOT DO THIS!
I got really annoyed with the mission in kusari where you juni and some blood dragons go to capture an armoured transport... I just couldn't kill the weps platforms in the time limit cos I didn't have a torp, and my puny lvl 6 guns couldn't pump out enough damage.
The tau 29 one was rather easy I thought, though I might have just been lucky to be honest.
OLtos, you may try to thrust immediately(Kadesh Light Fighter is execllent for dodging) or work about BD fighter from T-63, but it requiers a lot of time and patience to get this one, it costs around 1.5 mil i think:)
I remember that part =)
I do not remember how I got out of there alive without cheating... Though I did cheat in the end, about when you join the dragons
If you have enough space on your hard drive copy the entire Freelancer directory and all subfolders into a new subdirectory called FreelancerSP or something like that.
Then only make changes to files under that for SP. Youll have to start your SP campaign over again when you do this.
Never ever launch multiplayer from within your SP version area and youll have no issues with what Joe had to deal with.
Wouldn?t be easier if there were some changed ini?s for SP campaign players so we can play with all features but vanilla difficulty?
Since you are not going to get a lot of cap ships for the campaign anyway, or you can opt to not to and play the right way.
Then when you finish the campaign, replace the easier ini?s with the true discovery ones. Sure, a lot of people would end up just playing the easier way, but it?s their choice and we cheat anyway at some place to get through.
I changed the file "pilots_population.ini", for example, so NPC ships never use nanobots or shields repairs like original freelancer. It?s annoying to be on the tail of each enemy for +1 minutes trying to get him down.
If I?m bored or desesperated enough I?ll restore the AI values too, It?s easy to do anyway, but cumbersome.
What I don?t know is what happens when you enter a MP game with modified ini?s... I suppose the config is handled server-side only, isn?t?
