Naming the French faction "Provence" actually adds to the whole Corsair/Greek angle if we remember that the actual Provence region of France is the extreme Southeast portion of the country where the Romans first conquered outside Italy. There could be some juicy relationship between the existing Corsairs of Sirius and the newly reunited 'Provencels.'

I was thinking about the Corsairs and French earlier today. Maybe this is all for balancing in the Corsair-Outcast war? I mean, the Corsairs are really outnumbered....

I was watching the history channel yesterday, something about barbaric tribes, and apparently France was named after the Gaul's most common used weapon, but the name slips my mind right now...

I think you're mistaken. Germanic tribes (teutonic tribes) invaded Western Roman Empire and created their own nations in the teritory of defeated rival. One of the tribes was called Franks. After the death of Franks emperor named (Karolis, how do you say that in english..?) Carol/Carl/Karl the Great the empire was split between three sons of his into France, Italy and I think the other was Holy Roman Empire.

Although the name of the tribe itself could have been called by romans by common weapon that the barbarians used.

I think you mean Charles the Great, or Charlemagne.

Also, the Latin name for France (Francia) litterally means "land of the Franks."

Assuming that I ever have the time to return to regular playing, I'd personally like to see a House Arabia ('house' being one, maybe two systems). Maybe a competitor to GMG.

Allright. I've replaced the banner with its English version, as I promised.

About the backstory of French arriving to Sirius - I thought that this matter may remain a mystery for some time, but if it concerns you so much, I may explain.

Rumors on Malta say that there were 8 sleeper ships. What are the rest 3 ships we don't know. I actually did get the idea of Italia, France and Australia from Klaw's timeline post, so I can't confirm it in any way. Actually, it doesn't matter much what were the other two nations. But I'm sure about France. They had their own spacefleet, and they were one of the leading European nations, along with Germany and England both of which had their own sleeper ships. It's logical that France had their own ship.

Why don't we see 8 sleeper ships in the intro? Because they were launched from another location. Or maybe they just attempted to launch. I'd prefer to leave this part a mystery. Point is that French sleeper ship was among those three, but, unlike other two, it was empty, just a bulk. They knew what is going to happen, and initially planned to construct the 9th one.

It was struggle for their only hope. Leaving the Sol. Stakes were just too high.
