- GUIDELINES

.NET FRAMEWORK 4.0 OR HIGHER IS REQUIRED. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY WITHOUT IT.
If you have Windows 7 or above you should be fine, but in the event you want to be sure, you can download .Net Framework here from microsoft.

DO NOT START FREELANCER VIA FREELANCER.EXE, USE DSLAUNCHER.EXE
Or you will potentially be banned due to mismatching versions.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Download the setup and proceed with the installation. You will be required to have an original freelancer installation.

When this is done, carry on and you will be asked where you want to install Discovery. Obviously do not install 4.88 in the same folder as 4.87.
When the setup is done, go to your programs list, go to Discovery Freelancer and click on Discovery Freelancer or alternatively, go to your installation folder and start DSLauncher.exe.
Wait for the Launcher to be done and when it is, a "Launch Game" button will appear. Click on it to play Discovery.

Vanilla Freelancer
You 'must' have the original version of Freelancer installed. The mod files are installed after you have this installed.

when I start the discovery setup it asks where I want to save it. This is the installation wizard part. I don't know where to look in the browser to save it. I just downloaded the ISOZONE freelancer so where do I put the save location? I can't press (NEXT>) to continue in the setup until I find a proper save location.

You need first to install the vanilla Freelancer on your system. Once done, you can install discovery. That is why you are being asked the location of your freelancer folder during the discovery installation. Both can be in the same folder and you can erase the vanilla freelancer after if you wish so.
You'll have some problems for launching the game for the first time. You'll have to start several times (despite the error messages) the patcher in your discovery folder. Dont hesitate to ask for more information.

hi guys, just curious, when i install 4.88.1 it installs fine, but upon launching it still says "conquest" instead of "shattered fronts". is this normal? i've never had a previous version of this mod so i'm a little confused. thanks!

Yesterday I got a new pc, which is windows10, and now I need to do a complete install to make it work..

So step 1 was to download vanilla freelancer from the link in the original post. Which I did.
Now I have a freelancer.7z file that I have no idea how to use..
Can someone help me please?

I can easily be defined as "pc illiterate" so the more detailed your explanation the better.

7z files can be opened trough WinRAR/WinZIP if you've set up your applications to read those extentions. It's basically new .rar or .zip file.

If your PC does not recognize the 7z file, select option to open with one of programs installed on your PC and then find and select your winRAR/winZIP app.

i need help with updating and installing new updates and version, cos it's showing me : Version: 87... i have downloaded this 4.88.1 and reinstalled all as needed, fresh base install of freelancer and then updated mod 4.88.1 in different folder, and starting via discovery launcher, but still the same, shows installed version 87, what do i need? any help appreciated, thanks

Hi guys, I'm trying to install the vanilla FL file linked on the first post, however, I am having this problem with it. I was wondering how I could fix it? Yes, I have tried running it as an administrator but that has not solved the problem.
