Hello everybody, I actually got an Advanced train (5000 cargo), i can see a lot of simple traders but, sometimes, i see a liner, prison, luxury or other. I'm asking me a question, for all i know of thoses two kind of ship :
Transport : More cargo than a liner (3600 max for the best liner if i remember well), lower price than the liner
Liner : Only one who can trade persons, but cannot trade other commodities. A little more defended (better hull and much guns)
But i don't really see the advantage about taking a liner than a transport, a player can do more money with the transport than the liner no? Can a liner owner explain me why he take one and not a heavy transport?
With a liner you have different RPing and better defense as you already said. But, liners are quite restricted. Dunno about yachts tho (although I happen to own one).
Yes, 4300 cargo is very good! but the most common heavy trader got 5000 and humans take 2 cargo place (exept slaves), its seems not very rentable. Do you know if liners make more money than traders?
Well first of all, your ID must allow to fly the certain liner. Second of all, there are some new things about liners, something like you need to ask an admin about that, but I'm not sure about that at all. You'll have to wait for someone with more knowledge.
About making more credits, that depends what route do you find.
Buying a liner is NOT about making the most money you can by owning a ship with the best stat, that's for powertraders and lolwutters, it's all about RP.
Having a liner is more like having an elevated status above transports, it's a luxury many don't have. It invokes more RP possibilities and makes your character rich and insightful.

Yes, that is why buying a Luxury liner to remplace my trade ship is interesting me. But i never roleplay with a Luxury liner (a true one, not a LL with a neon cargo ><). If you can help me understanding the roleplay who make the player with that kind of ship, for exemple, we can only saw LL in retired system (not too much). Is the players doing like this too?

I have a Luxury Liner, it is not for trading but is a research vessel. Researcher ID and my cargo is not for trading. It appeals to my roleplay as it is defined as a 'Luxury' vessell. All the mod cons and cost a shed load of money. I am never going to make that money back from this ship but it fits in with my Chief researcher and the other scientists on board. Also looks damn fine and luxurious too. The cargo space is fairly irrelevant it is all about the ship and the description and the look. I cant really see a large train or any other transport having numerous labs and quality accommodation etc nor a load of scientists and personnel wanted to live on a heavy tanker for example.
I have seen a few people using them to transport tourists/vacationers and VIPS which makes sense as why the hell would a VIP want to travel in the hold of a tanker. I presume there is good money in them? Even saw one guy travelling around the Omegas with tourists on board and hoping he would be pirated so he could fight back and flee, 'great entertainment for the passengers' and they 'pay more for the excitement'. Thoroughly enjoyable bit of RP
