Mining needs to be more competitive with trading

I did a thread on that some time back, and can ressurrect it if you wish.

Very good ideas came out of it, but don't know if anything will happen in 4.85.

Generally, prices of minable commodities need to increase.

Yep, ressurect it.. I personally like mining, but its just not worth it... if we compare ANY mining with for example NB>Kyushu trade run , the best miner on the best place with no pirate attacks cant get even close to that profit... Which ruins the fun.

...but I don't mind tractoring in whatever happens to be inside them. Their good for target practicing.

Sorry for the slight deviation of subject. Mining? Never did that, don't like it. I'm a fighter jock. Give me a Starflier and I'll pop Liberty Rogues like there's no tomorrow. Though I have to acknowledge that trading is the way to go to make money. Not to mention the NPCs in Disco are so though fighting my way up is the last thing I would want to do again.

Ideally, all that needs to be increased are the yield amounts in the mineable fields. It should be more profitable than trading, but a greater chance of being intercepted by pirates patrolling the fields looking for easy prey.

If it were more profitable than trading, you'd still get plenty of people just buying and selling instead of mining because its less hassle (and less pirates), but a lot of people would also go out mining, but it would be considerably more dangerous since you're sat in one place instead of constantly on the move, with player pirates then having a point to roaming around mineable fields attacking miners.

I enjoy a bit of mining on new characters when I start them out, but eventually I go with trading for faster credits.
If mining were a bit more profitable I would strongly consider playing a miner character.

I made all my money in mining. It would be better if there was an auto mining system thou. I would enjoy it, if I still had my company (It would save tons of money!). And thats another thing if there is a autominer I believe it would need a licenses to mining with the automining. But sense that would be against server rules. That wont happen.
