Is there a video that shows how the track works? I remember the last time I looked at it I wasn't quite certain but I also had rather limited time.

A video can be posted early tomorrow for sure. I've been meaning to do it for today but got side tracked. Tonight when I get home I can post a detailed explanation with pictures and arrows.
The route is simplified and should not be a big problem to learn quickly. Ill do my best to have newcommers be able to learn the route as best as possible.
Additionally, before the event starts I can be around at Ames on my ship waiting if anyone wants to practice before hand.

Note: I would like ship names ASAP because ill be adding it to the blacklist on PoBs so that the weapon platforms will fire.

You will start from the top end of the race track, outside of the cloud (image 1)
Go straight (image 2) and then you will see tracks leading down and you will go through those (image 3)
At the end of the spiral, you have to make a sharp turn and keep going forwards where it is pointing (image 4)
Go around the OUTER loop and then head straight. You will then encounter an intersection and you will have to make a sharp turn RIGHT (image 5)
You will know you are going in the right direction becasue the race track infront of you will start going upwards. (image 6). Instead of that, turn right again.
remember that sharp turn after the spiral? That is your marker indicating you finished a lap! (image 7)
To make a repair stop, enter the shorter loop and not the outer loop (image 8 and 9)
When finished all laps, go straight to the end! (image 10 and 11)
