Or it might be because opening forum is easier than the game. Also, checking forum is easier while multitasking something. Million of reasons why people might not want to log into the game as opposed to checking the forum and being tracked as active for fifteen minutes.

Checking forums requires any device with a capable internet browser software and internet connection.
Logging in-game requires any PC with Freelancer and Discovery FL installed, and internet connection.
Guess which case is the more frequent.

(Then there are those unlucky bastards who can't connect the server either way for unknown reasons, like me.)
