I always get pwned when I fly my Gunship. IF you want people to stop "abusing" it though, just limit the cargo space so it can't mount Cap armor, and fix the Orca.

BH Gunship if the question is nerf it cause its uber,?

then the only way it can be uber is if it can be piloted by anyone and not be beaten by any other ship in game 1v1 pvp,

if the answer to this is no? it can be beaten by one of you top class pilots in say a bomber( like the xeno who posted killing everything from fighters to battleships a few weeks ago in his bomber) then its not uber and doesnt need nerfing

The GB picture that dusty posted has more to it actually, all the other GBs have hitbox that is bigger than the ship.. but yes it gives some perspective.

I forgot that changing hardpoints would require playerwipe. but you can also change firing arcs on the turret to get one less forward firing

OK.. then the maybe 300k powerplant, definitely 240 cargo and a small size increase or agility nerf would do fine. I say small increase because1 I'd like for it to stay usable and different. If you make it as big as all other GBs it will get boring and Orca will get redundant yes.

I have had one for quite some time so no it's not only from people that have to fight them ( as you may notice Frozen flies one a lot as well). I'm always arguing to make all ships as balanced and usable as possible no matter if I fly in them or against them. Actually I fly both in and against just about any ship around.

I have met a few Cap 8 armored ones lately, and only thing that saved me was the lack of skill of their pilots.

From my BHG GS flying (and I'm not an ace GB pilot, I can name over 10 that are much better )

1. With 1-2 missiles it's impossible to beat me in it by a single bomber - tried a lot of times against Frozen in Red Catamaran with SN + Mini + 4 Archangels, if he can't do it, nobody can.

2. With 1-2 missiles and cap 8, 2 bombers in over 90% of fights can't beat it, even one ace bomber pilot + one above average both in catamarans couldn't kill me.

3. If you focus on SN dodging you can evade almost all of them - talk to NovaPG attacking me with 7!!! bombers, I simply dodged the SNs in the gas field in S13 until they all got blasted by the explosions.. Oh and I didn't had capship armor, but yes I lost shield once.

4. With the size and agility it has it can never be taken down by a bs/cruiser as long as it stays over 1k. Once I even waltzed trough Alpha with RoS dread under 600ms behind me all the way - firing then cruising to close up then firing again, all the way from Tau 37 JH to Beta JH, I never lost my shield.

=> there is no real way to counter it, since it rapes bombers, dodges SNs, and dodges capship fire. Swarms of fighters do work yes... but we are talking about >3 fighters with very good pilots and corresponding armament.

4 Sabers and a Falcatta had a hard time taking one down. We lost 2 Sabers that day. Granted, the bomber pilot was me and I'm not that great in a bomber but STILL!!

A size increase would be nice for that ship. It's smaller then a couple of fighters.

@mjolnir: I don't use missles on my gs layout. I'm just not a missle guy. Never cared for using them much.

I know that some pilots who fly the gs also want it balanced. I'm well aware of this and I tend to take their views more seriously than the "nerf it 'til it's useless because it's a BH ship" crowd's views.

My personal hope would be for the gunship to be comparable in size, agility and turning to the Rogue gb. The Rogue gb seems to be a well balanced ship, that can still reasonably track faster bogies and still manage well against other gbs.

It will be be boring and the same then.. Orca is getting upgraded to be very much like the Rogue GB. Even now it's pretty good, 15k more armor is a big difference, and if only the forward gun was usable..

Hence there is no point to make two very similar ships... so it should be more agile and smaller but still balanced.

The gunship should be balanced around a new model at least. Here was my BHG design plan, from Dreygon's BHG Capital thread (http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16060)

You can't remove turrets since it would need playerwipe as AoM reminded us, but you can change their firing arcs.

someone modelling the gunship then? if not, i can quickly stick the parts together once i m home. - won t take long to make it, cause there is allready a pretty detailed concept there. - ( i d place the 6th turret to the back of the ship, limiting its arc to 60 degrees backwards ( thats backwards and the backwards view in general, but not the sides ) )



don t think its taking much time, - but i d still recommend AoM to make it, cause he made / remakes the orca - and its beneficial when ships are made by one person ( each designer has a unique ship-look sort of )
