Most of those systems are empty most of the time, It's not the systems that are to blame, they are important content of the game. It's just that there are few systems with interesting chokepoints, like New York and Omicron Delta. The number of systems itself doesn't matter in any way, as it is not as if people would distribute themselves over all the systems at any time.

On the other hand, I remember NPCs influencing small scale fights when they spawned in droves, though perhaps you'd consider this a good thing aswell.

Also that small scale fights "populate" a system. Think about this on high priority zones/frontiers like Leeds or Sigmas: Cap NPCs can create big battles without too much players and using capital ships and you enjoy it.

Restarts killed discovery (more than anything else), there is nothing to explore, discover, see and find if you simply can restart and teleported at any place. Nomad, Galia, Outcast or Corsairs was magical to me when i first encounter them as beginner while exploring universe, but magic was lost as soon i use restart. Sad

Pretty much, If restarts are such a problem, then don't use them.

The most I would change is buffing the NPC Fighters so they aren't just mobile bots/batts containers. it is kinda disappointing at how useless NPC snubs are in fights, even the nomads barely damage fighter shields, and then you hit the Curve of infinite powercore Gunboats with pulse cannons... (Pls... remove those from NPC gunboats, it's not fun to constantly lose power to those things.) anyway, I'd either buff NPC damage and health a little so they're a little more of a threat, and I'm not sure if the basic NPC's shields are kept from regening or not but I'd make it regen a little quicker as to keep it alive longer.

No. After the first "discovery/exploration" it is really beneficial command as I don't want to map tens of my ships with the same navmaps everytime I wish to play with different ship on the same character.

While the various changes may or may not have had an impact on specific players hanging around, I think that attitude has had a lot more to do with running new players off.

Many of the people that are in crowd players take advantage of their status to violate the spirit of the server rules while staying that nanometer shy of the letter of the rules that makes their behavior legal. When they are confronted about this sort of behavior, the rules lawyers will inevitably point out that they didn't do anything illegal while ignoring the fact that doing something illegal and something wrong are not always on the same page. What this does is to tell the new players that they are not valued because of the abusive behavior being acceptable, or, at least accepted.

Believe me that this kind of behavior gets around. This forum and the associated Discords are by no means the only ones that discuss Discovery's community.
