Listing Sci-Data available
Nerva starts reading the Sci-Data that he acquired from his last encounter with the Midnight Runner.
- partial maps of uncharted areas of sirius
- prototype shields
- secret deals between [redacted] and [redacted]
- information on Cultists - hmm, this might be interesting. I should compare this with what I have from my last two encounters with them.
- prototype Electromagnetic Pulse weapons - Ok, now this is more like what I was lacking around here.
- etc
He tries to access the directory. Welp, this is wierd. Why is it encrypted? God damn it.
- after couple of hours -
He takes a sip of Apple Cider. Ok then! Let's try this then.
Soon after he pressed the key, the screen started to show several schematics for the said EMP weapons.
"OA5IVRU"
This usual battleship weapons is a development by the mysterious "Cult of Technology", and a very small number have been salvaged from their wreckage. The massive ion charge it fires neutralizes a target's power supply, draining huge amounts of energy from the ship's reactor. On a shielded vessel however, the neutralization will occur before affecting the ships's systems, making it suitable only against unprotected targets.
BAZINGA! Yelled Nerva as he got up from his chair and went to stretch a bit.
Nerva returns to his console. Now let's see what weapons that we already have could be upgraded by using this information.
After looking around for couple of minutes, he stops at two entries:
Antimatter Cannon
The Heavy Mortar is a devastating high energy anti-capital ship weapon originally based off of research into antimatter weaponry. It is a much larger version of the original prototype, designed to deliver much more ordnance in a single projectile than its smaller brothers. This also makes it extremely energy hungry, and known to drain reactors of entire battleships in the process of firing.
Flack Cannon
Basic flak turrets for capital ships are manufactured in different locations around Sirius. With a design similar to Libery flak turrets, basic turrets are cheaper and deal less damage, but have similar range and require less energy to fire than ordinary flak turrets.
I do have two of each to spare said Nerva while looking at the screen. These two, these two might work very well.,
The EMP Heavy Ion Mortar Prototype is a devastating high energy anti-capital shield buster weapon originally based off of research into Cultist technology. It is a much larger version of the original Cultist design, and it was created to deliver much more energy. The massive ion charge it fires neutralizes a target's power supply, draining huge amounts of energy from the ship's reactor.
The EMP Flak Cannon turrets for capital ships are using the base of flaks manufactured in different locations around Sirius. With a design similar to normal flak turrets, EMP Flak Cannon turrets deliver a barrage ofEMPshots that cover a huge area. Combined with the normal flak cannons, they can deal immense damage that even the fastest fighter cannot escape.
The EMP Flak Cannon turrets will replace two of Unity's four flak cannons. Each side will be covered by one EMP Flak and one Normal Flak cannon. This should give us better chances of wining against swarms of fighters. The Heavy Ion Mortars will replace two Unity's four heavy slots. Thus, we will have two Heavy Mortars and two Heavy Ion Mortars that will completely pulverize anything that will be hit by them.
So if I restart the targeting system we should get some nice red things. Targeting system is rebooting in 3 2 1 Unknown Equipment detected in Heavy Slots 1 and 3 Unknown Equipment detected in Secondary Slots 6 and 8
I figured that might happen. Of course it won't work from the first try. It would not be fun to have something work on the first try? Right?
Now it should work, i double and triple checked everything Targeting system is rebooting in 3 2 1 Unknown Mortar Connon detected in Heavy Slots 1 and 3 Unknown Flak Cannon detected in Secondary Slots 6 and 8
BAZINGA! It's green. Now I just have to adjust some setting and we are good to go and test them
We seem to be in a safe area. Charging Ion Blasters 3 2 1 Ion Blaster One activated. Ion Blaster One is on cooldown for the next 30 seconds. Ion Blaster Two activated. Ion Blaster Two is on cooldown for the next 30 seconds.
Oh, wow. That is a nice color Nerva looks at the console And the energy consumption is not even that bad.
The time it takes to recharge though.... Oh, well.. I should just be glad they work.
Time for our second test. Charging Ion Blasters 3 2 1 EMP Mortar One activated. EMP Mortar One is on cooldown for the next .5 seconds. EMP Mortar Two activated. EMP Mortar Two is on cooldown for the next .5 seconds.
The range is good, the AOE seems pretty decent. Nerva looks at the console The energy consumption is insignificant.
Too bad I can only make two of these. Nevertheless, it's time to wrap up this project.
