Freelancer4Ever wouldn't you have to replenish your mines, missiles, and bat/nanos anyway. I say being killed all together is annoying.

I don't like the idea. People already roleplay this sort of thing on their exploring ships; making it mandatory would just add another layer of rules which ignoramuses will ignore (as they do already).

Explorers just would have to add that to there adventure... thou i can see the problem. Thats why there would be different types of fuel. The consumption rate would be varied greatly between the grades.



Edit: Everyone knows people don't follow the rules, they just haven't grown up to realize that there being immature. Not only doesn't it effect themselves it effects others. Like speed modding most of the people don't know that it changes other peoples playing data. That could corrupt and hinder other people form playing. They only think about is "ME ME ME if someone gets hurt i don't care as long as I'M happy"

And yes people get away with it. But do you see them proudly flying past SA at Matt? Nope hiding far away. Talking to there secret clan.

H fuel isn't the power source (fusion reactor) its the propellant. "Fuel" expelled by the reaction of heat from the fusion reactor is what makes the ship go. You have to push an ounce of fuel out to move ounces of ship.

Doesn't matter if you are a fighter or not.

Yep--there are varying grades of vehicle and jet fuel all with different reaction effects and costs. The SR-71 uses a special grade of fuel and 75% of it evaporates or leaks out of the aircraft before it hits speed and altitude--but it goes really fast. Commercial and military jets use different grades of fuel and hobby craft can use even different still.

Just like you can't re-engage for four hours--unless the person who downed you leaves the system--could be same with fuel. If you are alone and no one is about--who can say? But in a chase or running it would be for all to see and the rules would have to be followed.

Making H-fuel and other Fuels a mandatory component to our ships will seem like a natural process in everyday RP life.

I don't like this idea. This is mainly because it is making the game TOO realistic. It's like crossing the line between a game and a simulator. It just wouldn't be fun...

Also, I don't think it can be implemented. I think that could've been found out by using the search bar, as Dab said. This isn't like Guild Wars Guru v1, where the search bar was unusable if more than 2 people tried to use it....

It's like Forgotten Hope 2 for Battlefield 2, just TOO realistic....

depends on how engines work, and honestly I dont think there's any reasoning on how they work here in freelancer.

NASA is developing an ion engine though, which runs entirely on electricity. Basically it's a grate with a bunch of holes in it that you pass an electrical charge through, with another plate in front of it that has an opposite charge. I dont know the specifics of how it works off the top of my head, but basically some reaction between the two charged plates causes ions to seperate and move through the rear grating, creating propulsion. They're not exactly 'fast' engines - but they're being developed for long-distance travel, as the setup is extremely efficient. If you can put a nuclear reactor on a spaceship to provide electricity, you have a nearly unlimited fuel source.

I say yes. Until it is so, or the server shuts down, I will say yes to this every time. Gives more stress to traders when they look even more like a gravy train. I like playing characters with lots of enemies and things to consider. So, this would make trader very attractive. Heck I never get pirated unless I smuggle. Cops.......*mumbles* LPI *cough* LNS :huh:

I'd also love a mechanical componet to make us conduct cargo space management. :ie Some codeing that makes no thrust and no criuse when out of fuel. Make it something you buy in the repair screen on bases. Have it be a commodity that is connected to both of or one of those functions. Like the ID=tractor beam.
Or make an additional ship part you could just call fuel. It degrades and you have to repair it. Or moveing at speeds > 80 KPS cause it to degrade.

I'd really want all ships to be held to this but, it would probally be easier to start from the bigger classes and work down. Over the next couple mods.

New types of pirates too. Fuel hungry ones in the deep reaches.

I dont exspect it but it would make things in my opinion much more involved and about 100% cooler.
