I've played World of Warcraft... on a cough* private server cough*
Well, What I noticed I enjoyed most was those instances like deadmines and Karazhan and stuff.
For those of you who never got interrested in WoW I'll explain what a instance WoW style is:
It is where you gather a group of people and go to a new map where only your group is. There is very many elite mobs so you'll have to make a group who can co-operate good and support eachother.
So, In freelancer it would be neccesary to put a group with both anti fighter and anti cap-ship weapons.
In case it would be over used and all loot would be farmed, you could make all bosses respawn once in a server shutdown, then it would be quite rare to see people with weapons or equipment from those bosses.
I thought of some good places for those instances to be.
The first to come into my mind was the place where all nomads went when you completed the story, if all nomads went there then that would mean that eventually there are new nomads ships to be discoverd.
When I was making this thread, I came to think of shipyards, jumpholes to them hidden in each major house. So one instance in Kusari, one in Rheinland. one in Britonia and one in Liberty.
Those would have to be well hidden so you would have to search for them to find them... screw datastorm or whatever it's called.

Well, please add your thoughts.
While its a nice idea, I don't think the mechanics of FL allow that kind of thing.
I have played Wow, so I understand. However these kind of FL 'instances' are usually
player run (i.e. think keeperes venturing into NY.) Or they are "raids" initiated by players.
FL mechanics just dont allow a place where no one else can enter. I guess one way
would be to use a Jumpdrive into a system that has no JH or JG, but that's the only
way I can think of having an "instance". And that Jumpdrive probably isnt going to get
into Disco any time soon.

This is not warcraft, and it shouldnt be turned into a warcraft-in-space mod.

Like Hyung said the instances for fl are player run...as in raids, pvp battles, RP events etc...

@Original Poster: That's what high level missions are for. Unfortunately, they're not nearly as hard as they should be, and do not pay nearly as well as they should pay. So how about, instead of that, we have a base or two in every system that has challenging missions for blah, where multiple capships spawn and you'll need good things like fighter support and repair ships? Heck, have bomber NPCs rape your capships with supernovas. Then you'll be forced to fly with a fighter wing.
Yeah, what Captin...er...Poo said. Missions are almost like instance hordes and bosses, but less predictable. That's good isn't it? We'd just need to add very high level missions with uber bosses and really great stuff.
But not codies.... I'm uncomfortable with the notion of item farming. (OTOH it annoys me that every single wreck is always bloody looted.)
ps. Example, we could have a destroy-base mission. It is defended by elite fighters & caps, and mounted with pwnz0r guns. But when it's destroyed lots of goodies come falling out.
