Well, this was your intention since the beggining.
Intention is the wrong word to use here. I didn't want a dead faction to linger, but at the same time I didn't want it to become a mindless powertrader faction. I saw an opportunity to take up Owen's offer because if I didn't things would just have stagnated like many factions have done in the past with minimal to noRP. However, now is not the time to discuss such things. You made your perspective clear in PMs and I made mine - lets leave that there.
If anyone ever bothered to check why I ''disappeared'', one would easily find out it's because Samura was abandoned by all players, save for Pallab. Non other logged. As for the reasons why that happened, well, probably because Samura RP story line progression was halted and nothing could be done to move it anywhere. I mean, who wants to be in a faction with zero future. As for my personal reason, well you admins know those. The reason I opened up Disco again, well, because someone had guts to call me on my cell phone and ask questions. Okay, I came back to check what's up.
From what I knew from before, when a faction goes inactive, it goes unofficial and dies. Never seen this thing by admins giving 3 months leadership to someone. Best part is Laz, not even in Samura, or skype chat. I mean I'm there and I checked. I also saw there only one player being picked for leader (Jason) and one for 2ic (Pallab).
But hey, if so many players sent request for faction leadership and them to be considered legit and than because of so many of them that a faction gets stripped of officialdom, than I can see how far have things in Disco degraded. When I think of it, maybe I should send a player request and ask for leadership of ''Admin'' faction. Would definitely have run things better then into the ground.
Jokes aside, you Dennis are the only remaining good admin, at least with the info I'm drawing from the last year, no idea about recent developments. I guess you still have hope. I lost it, moved to greener pastures. Wish you all the best.
Samura lasted for as long as it did. Best faction ever. Whoever makes a new one, well, it's not going to be the old one. All the good players that comprised what Samura was have moved from the cancerous place that Disco has become. It wouldn't surprise me if some players (members of factions enemies to Samura) create new Samura faction just to run it deeper into the ground, not like such things haven't been done before. (They know who they are.)
All in all, as my late grandfather used to say to me: ''Good comes to those who do good and bad to those who do bad''. Something for all to remember.
I don't see anything particularly wrong here. Factions lose official status for being inactive or falling apart all the time. Samura| clearly had no line of succession and was falling apart. If a Samura faction meets the minimum requirements for an official faction, then it can put the 500 million down and have its rights and its responsibilities as an official faction back in a couple months' time, just like any other faction wanting to become official.
It would make sense, however, to add another official faction responsibility outlining the requirement for eg. a clear line of succession in case of the faction's leadership disappearing from the face of the earth, to assist the staff in case player requests to install a new leader.
Ok so Samura is made unofficial
Fair enough, that’s how things go
But why is it made as such important news, which I need to see it when I log into the forum?
Oh nice. Always looked forward to pew some turtles.
By the way, why is "Faction made unofficial" published in the upper part of the forum in the form of an event, or something very important? As if everyone is to be informed that Samura is no more. To me, it looks like rubbing salt on Samura's wound.

Given the confusion following the requested notice of disbandment, a significant period of inactivity followed by a sudden flurry of leaders claiming to have been elected by the same player base and the actual prior leader handing it to a largely unexpected candidate, the admin team has come to a decision regarding Samura.
As of the time of posting, the Samura official faction is no longer such, and the entire faction has been reverted to an unofficial faction.
The tag and ID will be removed in the following days. Those people using official Samura ID's have one week to replace them with the unofficial variant.
Your decision has been read, acknowledged and received in the spirit it was given, we shall continue on as this means little and is a momentary setback. It seems that all ships have reverted to the normal ID, so that is done. Having said that, please leave the Samura|- tag alone as I believe being official is not a requirement of having a faction tag and removing it would fall more under the guise of punishment then anything to do with removing a status.
