The following is taken from a draft I had written and urged @Teerin to implement circa early 2015. A lot of this is cheesy, even cringy, but if you can get over the rough edges (and boy, there's a lot of edge), it paints a much different picture of Discovery. This isn't where we are and it isn't where we're going, but man is it interesting to think about where else we might be today.
Quote:4.87 Final Rough Story Draft
----------------
Gallia - Into the Depths of Hell
Kingdom of Gallia - Though having conquered New London, Leeds, and Edinburgh, Gallia has been forced to go on the defensive to maintain their iron grip on their new lands. Losing the forward momentum of their grand capital fleet, having sustained heavy losses due to unexpected Sirian resistance from the Liberty, the Colonial Remnant, Hellfire Legion, and other forces located near the barrier gap, a change of doctrine is deemed necessary and implemented swiftly to protect Gallia's assets and very sovereignty, with the coming months a pivotal point for their kingdom.
Securing New London, Gallia patrols the lanes of Bretonia mercilessly, cutting down all freedom fighters and guerillas, while maintaining a defensive stance against Bretonia's government and fleet in exile, situated in Cambridge and Omega 3.
On the Libertonian front, deep force recon patrols made of fighters and bombers form the new cornerstone of Gallic warfare, operating deep behind enemy lines with strike craft to great effect against Liberty's forces, with ONI wings not being an uncommon sight in California and Ontario.
Behind the front lines back in their home territory, rebel, terrorist, and pirate activity spikes greatly with the loss of coordination and momentum down in Bretonia. Anarchy is the order of the day, with several bases being destroyed or captured within Gallia's borderworlds, notably Burgundy, Lorraine, and Provence, stretching Gallia's waning forces even thinner.
Beset by enemies on all sides, Gallia struggles not to become a page in the books of Sirian history.
---------------- Liberty - Shadow War
Republic of Liberty - Unsuccessful in halting the Gallic war machine and pushed out of Magellan, Liberty sends a portion of it's fleet to Manchester, hoping to strike a blow against their more disorganized forces in Newcastle via the jumphole. Plagued with incursions of Gallic strike craft throughout the warfront, many of Liberty's more idealistic outlaws and rebels play a key role in defending the sovereignty of the nation, being familiar with their small craft hit and run methods. Though still clashing with Liberty themselves, the Xenos and Hellfire Legion both engage in patrols to seek and destroy the trespassers on what they consider their homeland.
Meanwhile a new, more sinister threat has emerged. Emerging from Liberty's darker reaches comes Division 9, a supposed elite taskforce aimed at halting the Gallic advance with ruthless tactics and psychological warfare. Where they go, silence follows, the appearance of a Division 9 ship heralding the elimination of everything in their path. Believed to be influenced by other powers, the LSF and Navy hunt and clash with Division 9, attempting to paint them as simple extremists to keep the peace.
In the dark corners of Liberty enemies both old and new battle in the shadows, a time for heroes.
----------------
Rheinland - Rain on New Berlin
Federal Republic of Rheinland - Beaten, war weary, and now isolated, Rheinland's regime fights for their very right to exist. With their gates to Liberty destroyed, Dresden and the near Omega's now the home territory of Rheinland's Red adversaries, and a sudden terrorist attack on The Ring casting thousands of shards and chunks of debris down upon New Berlin, the morale of the Kanzler's army has been all but reduced from a great green flame to a flickering candle, all but certain to burn out.
Fearing for the future of his nation, the Kanzler signs a pact with Gallia, declaring their fealty in exchange for their sovereignty of their homeland. Marching the battered fleet into battle once more against their former Bretonian allies, hoping to win the King's good graces and assistance in reclaiming their home from the Hessian movement which is winning not only ground in Rheinland, but in the hearts of Rheinland's people.
With old allies forced to fight for the future of both their houses, a scenario for bloodshed is all but certain to unfold.
----------------
Kusari - A Schism of Blades
Republic of Kusari - Split into three warring factions, the Gallia alligned Republic, the tradition upholding Ronin, and the honor bound Blood Dragons, Kusari is now a nation divided. with Nagano and Rishiri throwing in with the Ronin, and the Blood Dragons rising from the ashes to reclaim their throne, the Republic is forced to turn their attention inwards, failure not an option with the threat of Gallia looming everpresent overhead. Though armed with new weapons and technology, can they withstand steel which has stood the test of time?
With Gallic warships pulling back to Kusari for repairs and supplies, it is unknown how the struggling Republic will be seen in Gallia's eyes, and what would failure mean for the Republic? There are even whispers of detonating the Rishiri gate and sueing for peace with the Ronin, a better future than Gallic occupation and exploitation, but for now they fight for their new masters in their new era, hoping for the lasting stability of a progressive Kusari.
With their backs against the wall, the Samurai of today clash in their flying blades, but who will reign victorious remains to be seen.
---------------- Bretonia - Their Finest Hour
Kingdom of Bretonia - A nation in exile, forced from their capital and many core systems, the stalwart Bretonian people dig in and regroup in Cambridge. Refusing to wait for Gallia's imminent advance or for someone else to save them, Bretonians both occupied and in exile mount an insurgency, striking out with no remorse against the Gauls occupying their bases and planets, patrolling their lanes, and oppressing their people.
With their main remnants of their fleet forced to defend against the Rheinland flotilla in the Omegas however, the fall of two of the great Houses may be on the horizon. Though the Bretonians practice defiance in defeat and intend to win or go down fighting, will the price be too high with Gallia, the Corsairs, and Mollies all on Bretonia's doorstep, preparing to take what they all believe is rightfully theirs?
“In war, resolution; in defeat, defiance; in victory, magnanimity.”

GIB ME THAT NOW!
Ps. And you told me that attacking Bretonia as Rheinland would be a bad thing... but you had the same idea in 2015

This was written before the war with Liberty was resolved. Doing so now would be a complete U-Turn and economic catastrophe, but back then it certainly could've worked.

Not only would i have probably quit my efforts within all of Rheinland at the time, but I'm now thankful I am leader of a faction. if this was the case now, I'd fully turn the BDM into a splinter faction.
This idea of beating down Rheinland to a pulp like this would of surely meant that the player base would of quit, and would of given more leeway to a smaller rheinland, thankfully not.

If you inspect the entire post thoroughly, you can see the idea was to beat down all houses, not just Rheinland. With that mindset everyone would have their reasons to ragequit the game.
Also, pls, stop with the "would of" cancer. Thanks.
