Transferring Characters

I have one character that I created on my desktop pc. I have a second character that I created on my laptop. I would like both characters to be available to play when I log into the server from either my desktop pc or my laptop. I see that the launcher has an "import/export" function but I can't figure out how it works. There were some instructions posted years ago, but those have been deleted. Can someone tell me if what I want to do is possible, and if so, how to do it? Many thanks for your replies.

What you want to do is go to your accounts, tick the checkbox next to the account you want to export, click the import/export button, and then click export selected accounts. Then transfer the XML file you will save to your laptop, and use the import DSLauncher option.

Hi-- I tried that but now I get an uhandled exception error and the launcher doesn't work any more.

Could you provide images of this? Error codes? Any further detail aside from "doesn't work"?

I wish I could, but I'm in the process of reinstalling a clean copy of freelancer and the mod. If it happens again I'll post the error codes. For now, I'm going to start all of my characters on my desktop PC, and if they won't migrate to the laptop, I'll deal with it.

My main character was dead anyway. I don't respawn. I'm trying for 100 million before I'm killed. If I hit that number, I'll respawn.
