Complete refocus of Target Group aiming to kids and teenagers between the ages of 10 to 15.

I agree with the other points, but a "complete refocus" would drive off a large part of the old community. I don't even think that its even possible to make this game, or a RP community around it, suitable for 10 year olds.

There are reasons why Freelancer is a PG 13 game (so not for age 10), which go from violence and ability to understand the plot, and most of the community is currently been playing it more like a 15/16+ (with occasional guys who try to start "18+" RP with strangers, which I personally find annoying an inapproiate).

There's also the matter of addictiveness of this game. There are a number of people who got serious school and even mental problems from this game (or rather, from the community), which probably get worse the younger the person is.

I am sorry but I really don't seem to think this is whats best. You are fairly new around here and I love the fact you are active on the forums. However just because you don't understand something the first time around doesn't mean we all have to change the game I.E Tags. Campaign media? Everyone here does not get paid at all, we are all here playing a game we love. The Admins and dev are volunteers and do not get money for their work. Where do you propose we get the money for this? Step 4 will never happen without the source code and only Chris Roberts and Microsoft have them and they want a pretty penny, Freelancer Multiplayer was never intended as a level up challenge experience. The point of this game is to live out our personas through the characters we play and the factions we as an individual most compare ourselves to. Focal Groups? Step one is laughable at best, The Admins have to much on their plate already and unless the Tag is OORP(Out of role play) in nature they wont do anything unless its proven so.

All in all, make a freelancer, explore sirius, find an NPC faction you like and see if their is a player version of it, apply towards the faction and have a good time.

Just stepping in for a moment only to hop out, again.

Maybe to simplify tags, they could be spelled out instead of being abbreviated? I'll admit that even as a veteran, there are still some tags I come across where I'm left scratching my head as to what the heck they're trying to represent.

Some factions are short enough to fit into [brackets] or (parenthesis), but for those with longer names, they could be semi-short hand, such as [KuNavy], [RheinMil], [I.Miner'sGuild], [G.Miner'sGuild], etc.

There's a 23-character limit on character names in Freelancer.

Tags tend to be abbreviated to hell and back for a reason.

Retired, permanently.

I knew the character name limit was low, but dang, no wonder. With a tag like [G.Miner'sGuild], there's only 7 characters left to name your actual character. Good grief!

Nobody is left behind but rather branching out to a younger audience to revitalize and add new blood to the mod. As I understand, the biggest assets of Disco are Numbers and RP, but you cant really RP without the numbers so numbers are vital for Disco. Betting to capture a younger audience is a great long investment for Disco. As I mentioned earlier there are other space games that are currently in way to be released and can eventually affect the numbers of Discovery but you cant calculate this now. The game is perhaps PG 13 but the mod per se isn't really a game. Still the target group could as well be 13 to 18. The matter of addictiveness is too subjective.

Nobody has to spent a dime for this. There are existing Factions who use the appropriate Tag. There are a bunch of factions who use only one word in Vanilla yet in Discovery Factions add another letter to abbreviate. Im not saying all factions need this but if is manageable to at least reduce the abbreviated ones to 50% that would make a mayor difference.

About leveling up. You start the game at level 25 or something right?.

Afaik, level's kind of dictated by your total net worth in-game (ship value + credits in your neural net)

Then downgrade the ship to a Stargazer and lower its hull value so at least becomes some sort of challenge for new players so at least if you're idle you get killed by one npc. Killing enemy npc is very valuable in Penn right now. A Focal Group can be something as simple as to get a kids to play in Penn and watch them play, see how they interact and check for feedback, fun factor etc. If they join each other to finish missions and also checking the learning curve. This data is priceless.
