After setting up the couch, with Lukas looking at her, she smiled softly. "There you go, it was in my bed, but I can't let you catch a cold."
Her hand caressed his face and smiled, averting his gaze again, before leaving. "Breakfast is at eight, so since I cannot cook you dinner, I will make you breakfast." Her smile was the last thing he saw of her that night.
It had taken a few days, but it was time. Spending a few moments in front of the mirror, slipping on this Hessian flight-suit, Lukas prepared himself for what he was about to do, considering the numerous ways this simple mission could go and the multiple contingencies he might be required to carry out if things changed.
One thing was certain in his mind, he wasn't coming back without knowing for certain that he killed his target. And if that meant grave injury to himself, it would be a small price to pay to kill a monster. Slipping the helmet on, he'd commit himself to the task, putting his personal feelings aside and focusing himself, turning his mind into a rigid metal.
Swift brutal violence was sometimes the only way to achieve true Justice.
"Knowing Humanity - We will be duty, bloody and unavoidable."
He was finally back here, at her doorstep. Three days that felt as if they'd lasted forever. Would she be pleased? At ease? He wasn't sure how she'd take the news, the only way to find out was to knock on the door for the second time in the week. With a few light taps, he'd stand directly in front of the currently closed doorway. A slight bit of anxiety fluttering through him knowing that he'd see her again.
"Knowing Humanity - We will be duty, bloody and unavoidable."
Footsteps were heard from the other side of the door, practically running. Suddenly the door opened and Kira, with her eyes wide open, looked at Lukas from head to toe before taking two steps to be in front of them. "Tu.."
Out of nowhere, a slap hit Lukas hard. Harder than expected from a woman that size. As the shock set in his mind, his hand rubbed the sore cheek and his face turned to Kira, only to find her eyes becoming filled with tears. Her hand grabbed his hair and pushed his face to hers and a kiss emerge, soft, tame and filled with longing. What was eternity to them, was mere seconds to any onlooker, if there was one. Their lips finally parted and the tears kept rolling down her face. "Tu.. You.. You didn't said anything. For three days. Três dias!!!" Her hand rubbed her tears away.
Still reeling under the sudden assault and then the sudden intimacy, he'd take a moment to make sure he had his bearings on what was happening before electing to say anything at all. "We're- I'm usually encouraged to maintain radio silence when handling a mark. I'm sorry, I should have said something. I defaulted to training and not thoughts."
She was worried about him, worried sick even, practically quivered when she kissed him almost as if she thought she'd never get another chance at it. "It's done.."
He was calm and soft-spoken as usual, but there was something different about him. Almost as if a weight had been pulled from his shoulders, like the sharpness in his eyes wasn't from sorrow and regret anymore but instead pure focus.
"Knowing Humanity - We will be duty, bloody and unavoidable."
She kept cleaning the tears of her face and nodded for him to get in."Entra." Her voice croaked. "Mi hijo.. Alejandro is at the school for niños." Her eyes finally seemed to stop producing tears.
He wouldn't protest entering her home, doing so immediately once told. He actually felt quite guilty seeing her like this, come to think of it he was feeling a lot of things right now, none of it really made any sense given all the chaos. "I missed you.."
He stood by, watching her close the door and turn towards him before deciding to step forward and embrace her, feeling her owed her that much, at the very least, after leaving her here worried. He couldn't help but wonder if he deserved all of this, her.
"Alejandro seems like a good boy. He definitely has your eyes." He didn't say much about the child the last time he was here, he may as well say what was on his mind now. Being a potential parental figure wasn't on his list of things to do, then again, neither was getting involved with someone to this extent.
"Knowing Humanity - We will be duty, bloody and unavoidable."
He could hear her sighing, content. Her hand caressed the cheek that it had slapped seconds before, as she hid her face in his chest. "Perdoname."
The hand kept softly caressing his cheek, in a movement that it was making him feel safe. "Si, he does.. Are you ok? You are not hurt?" She finally removed her face from his chest and those big brown eyes looked at him.
Smiling, he already knew the answer to her question and that's exactly what prompted that vague sense of happiness to spring forth. "I'm alright. You hit harder than I expected."
He wasn't sure when her son would be due home but at least for now they had some time alone together, though he didn't have anything in mind, his plans concluded with arriving here, the rest he didn't give much thought.
"I killed him. I killed him because every step he took was one more he didn't deserve. And I did it for you." He was beginning to notice a trend and that was the fact that he simply couldn't stop himself from getting somewhat lost whenever his eyes met hers, it was such a cliche yet it couldn't be denied.
"Knowing Humanity - We will be duty, bloody and unavoidable."
She shook her head in denial, her eyes threatening to cry more. "No. No, no, no. You can't say that, Lukas. No."
Her gaze averted from him, looking to the side, to the somewhat old apartment. "There is more, si? I knew that it was possivel that one day that man would show up.. And I am.. contente that it will never happen.. But.." Her eyes looked back at him.
"You didn't do it for me alone. Yo puedo sentirlo."
