We kinda want to make our own fleet, but we dont really know which faction to join actually, we are thinking about making gallia characters, but we dont have much experience on the game to know what to choose. Any suggestions? For now we are aiming to get our first cruisers.

Rheinland Military or Kusari Naval Forces, they are now at war and battle a lot. I would go with KNF since looks like we are most of the time lacking caps and you want to make a bunch of them.

Joining Gallia is a bad idea for newcomers. You'll find nobody flying around in Gallia itself, and the moment you leave Gallia, you will find yourself ganked by Bretonia, Crayter and Liberty, especially the latter.

I suggest you to create your fleet in either Kusari or Rheinland and move to Sigma-21, where the war is happening right now. The kusarian side can use some people and they are very good at teaching your the combat etiquette. As displayed so far, Rheinland struggles to keep their indies within said etiquette.

Alternatively, you can of course create your fleet in Bretonia, as capital ship players get trained there by the marvellous @Thunderer, or you can just do it in Liberty, the wild west of Discovery, where people don't give much value on the unwritten rules of PvP.

Rheinland Military and Kusari Naval Forces. They are borh at war with each other and the war has just recently started so it should be an activity hub for some time. Also, both factions ( I guess that KNF more) would need some playerbase boost. As for more reasons and description, someone else should do it as I'm on phone.

Really should know what the campaign is about before diving into Disco, highly recommended.
And don't think that capitals will help you not getting easily owned.
