The earlier screenshot was from my own FL install, which has a bunch of tweaks to its lighting and color correction. Decided to stop being lazy and actually throw this thing in a clean install for proper comparison. This is how it looks with the standard disco settings:

Yea I know exactly what you mean, and the current texture does have that issue.

That's partly because this is still a WIP, and is mostly caused by light and color values being slightly off, which is a quick fix but is much more efficient to do when the texture is actually final and there are no more changes needed; and it's also partly because I'm still figuring out how to get as close to FL style as possible, without making the textures unnecessarily busy and clustered, which is the main thing I never liked about vanilla textures (like the side panel on Wraith, which is just... ugh).

But don't worry, I'm not gonna call this finished until it actually looks right ingame, which at this point, is just a matter of minor tweaks here and there and nothing substantial.

I can't help but look at this ship and think that it looks like the epitome of "Doom Guy" (The character that the player controls in the Doom series).

This thing would make me want to make a Rheinlander to shoot-em-up all the things. Looking good so far! Seriously, that cockpit with the munitions slot below it is superbly implemented. I'm also a fan of the grey cable housings that run from the disc in the back to the wings; it definitely gives off the vibe of efficient power core distribution to the wing weapons.

Aesthetically speaking, I also like the wing-reinforcement struts that will likely give it additional durability. Balance wise, this will make the ship slightly easier to hit from directly back and front, as well.

I also noticed a slight asymmetrical aspect of the Valkyrie: The iron cross plate is present upon the port side, but not starboard side of the ship. This makes it feel like a brand logo to me, rather than simply blending into the rest of the ship.

There's a lot to like about this, and it's not even finished, yet!

v0.8b is up.

Color correction, lighting adjustment, some tweaks to the armor and touch-up on weathering. Also some boring stuff related to downscaling the textures for ingame use.

Something still bothers me. I don't know what. It still doesn't feel like it fits in to me.
Maybe it's that round to edgy thing Sanctions mentioned. Maybe the texture looks a bit 'washed out'. I can't really put it into words.

Not wanting to make your work bad. Just really want something perfect to go ingame.

I love the model especially the front missile thingy, but I agree with Skorak. The textures do not feel right. It reminds me of WoW/Paladins graphics - not sharp enough. If you could do a better texture job i.e. make them similar to the current Rh shipline textures that be perfect.
