The takatea stood still again and laid down in the grass. Mi briefly lost her balance and almost fell off. Meg was simply watching them, when she heard something move in the trees.
"Them again..."
She armed the assault rifle and aimed it at the tree. As soon as she heard the sound again she opened fire at the source of the sound. A dino shrimp fell out of the tree with several bullet wounds. The takatea jumped up in response to the loud noises and ran off with Mi on its back.
Megaera heard Mi yell her name in the distance.
The sudden movement of the Takatea caught Mi off guard and she almost fell off its back again.
If it wanted this seemingly clumsy and slow animal could be really fast. Mi had a hard time remaining on its back and at some point even almost lost her blaster.
After not even two minutes the Takatea suddenly stopped, seemingly having found an area rich of tea plants. Mi didn't think of getting off its back right away and instead screamed for Meg, fearing they lost each other due to this incident.
Megaera walked towards the direction of Mi's voice and eventually saw the large shape of the takatea between the trees. It was busy eating the yellow/red flowers. She looked up at Mi who clinged to the takatea's back.
"You are pretty good. You already tamed it. Another dino shrimp caught our scent it seems. It died."
She observed the flowers carefully. "We should drop a beacon here and return to the ship. We need to bring some of the cannisters here so we can secure the plants. Maybe we should bring the takatea to carry them back?"
"T-Tamed? That thing.. is not tamed! It didn't even notice me, I tell you!" Mi managed to relax a bit, having Meg around calmed her down a bit.. and the animal was peacefully eating again. Seemed like this was its main activity; eating. "I like that idea though. We could make use of it atleast. Want to try to direct it to our ship then?"
Just a moment after finishing her sentence, Mi noticed that she called it their ship, overthinking it like this made her chuckle out of nowhere..
She plucked a few of the flowers and held it in front of the takatea in order to make it walk towards her. It ate the flowers out of her hand.
"I honestly start to really like this creature. I want to take it with me."
Meg took a small spherical object out of her pocket and dropped it on the ground. a small green light flickered on the side.
She activated the scanner and looked on the display.
"Beacon is operational. Lets go takatea."
She waved the flowers infront of it and it started walking in a slow pace.
After a while, they reached base camp where the cannisters were stacked close to Megaera's sichel.
Upon seeing the ship, the takatea protested. It took some encouraging pats from Mi to make it walk forwards again.
"Hm.. Lets see what I can conjure up."
Megaera went into the ship and shortly after came out with some rope. She tied it around the takatea's waist and fastened hooks to it.
"Now it can help us carry the cannisters around."
The takatea tried to shake the rope off, but eventually gave up.
Once the ropes were fixed on the creature, Mi started to chuckle. She couldn't believe they just simply tamed this thing that easily! "Is this our pet now? Our very own Gaia thingie pet? Also... c-can I get off it now?"
Just then Mi realized she was riding it the entire time! She should get off it and.. perhaps give Megaera the possibility to try it out herself?
To Baffin? How did Meg plan to get it into the ship? The cargo hold would be quite small for it.. "Uhh, right. Just.. jumping off it. And four should do, hai, we don't need all that much anyways, right?"
Instead of jumping, Mi carefully slided off the creature, smiling amused at Meg. "You should give it a try later too, you know."
Megaera caught Mi when she thought Mi was about to slip
"I do not want to burden it too much. The canisters can become pretty heavy, so we can try later."
She gave the takatea a headpat and looked towards the door of the sichel
"I just remember that I left the communication channel on. Do you think Golly is still there waiting for us?"
She went inside and looked at the screen with the message 'Connection Lost'. Megaera walked up the the screen, took the sharp tail of the dino shrimp, that she picked up earlier, out of her bag and laid it infront of the display. Then she headed back outside.
