Capt Noobius, what are you supposed to be doing in the Public Fighter? Pvping people, or roleplaying. You aren't allowed to act as a nomad (kill on sight) without the Keepers ID, so you should be roleplaying via telepathy instead.
that's one of the reasons I was thinking of basing mine out of connecticut.
-New haven is a base the nomad LF can dock out without being OORP, other than gammu/primus.
-Connecticut is one jump away from the most populated system in the game, which means lots of input or reactions from other players. That can tell me if I'm doing good or bad, but can also cause problems due to the large number of OOC players there.
-New york is full of hiding places; from the debris fields (pittsburgh debris field in particular, dark matter is there) to the badlands, plenty of areas to hang out in and remain undetected.
-The NPCs in liberty cannot use cruise disruptors, and they're more than weak enough to easily take down with a couple class 9 guns Even the liberty rogue gunboats that occasionally spawn arent that tough if you've got a mini razor equipped.
So treewyrm... you being the go-to guy if I ever want to get nomad RP down straight... what do you think about basing my nomad out of new york like that? I can think up a half dozen reasons one would be there, but what do the keepers think about it?
EDIT:
Noobius, the mini razor takes up your torpedo slot, and does around 20k hull / 10k shield damage. With a good bit of practice you can hit npc fighters with it, but i'd never expect to land a shot from that thing on a player.
Mini Razors go in a torpedo slot and i dont see why he cant have a Nomad VHF because it says in its infocard it works alone.
Thats right tenacity edit your post.

Yes, the nomad assassin's infocard says that. However, that ship is only available to members who have joined the keepers (it requires server admins changing your rep to even get access to).
"indie" nomad players, like noobius and immunity (and maybe soon myself) are out to do one thing - prove themselves to the keepers that they know how to RP a nomad properly, and eventually gain approval by the faction so that they -can- use 'real' nomad ships.
Ah. okay, ill try to get my hands on a minirazor. And the Nomad VHF are reserved for keepers who are the true nomads. Im kinda like an indie nomad i guess you can say...my app for the keepers faction is my rp in game and my story...thats why.
Um, no. Connecticut is not a roleplay area, so technically you can't even base your roleplay from it as the system most likely does not exist within borders of roleplay, that would be my opinion. Think of it as of alternative universe if you will, it's mostly for PvP practice and things like that. I know it has been used for roleplay before, namely for the trader's freedom run before, but that was one-time event and acted as a starting area and not much else, so I would strongly suggest to avoid it. Nomads are rather reclusive by nature, and least thing you want is being hunted mercilessly by hordes of capital ships in Liberty space. Doesn't mean that you stay away from people but neither you go head on into highly populated systems, I can assure you that most of the time it's frustrating experience. If you want place other than Omicrons pick an area that would be less populated, but understand that you might have no docking points in there at all, each time you are killed you'll have to travel back from Gammu/Primus. So get used to the limits, unlike most people here we travel far without pitstops, our last stop is O-55 and from there on nowhere to stay. It's a high risk but also a good source of fun: interesting roleplay encounters and adrenaline rushing chases.
Also, about Minirazor, a good fighter pilot is the one capable of using it's potential. A lot of us use Nomad Torpedo to high success, which is equivalent of Minirazor, except that it's less powerful but have prettier graphics. Learn to use it, as we don't hand out capital ship, so it's fighters and bombers being the primary choice of ship classes. Usage of gunboats has been reduced literally to the point nobody really flies them, plus nomad gunboat/gunship needs fixing of firing arcs (coming in 4.85).

It's up to you to interpret as you wish, I'm merely saying that personally I don't consider it to be part of RP due to it's special purpose - PvP arena, and as such I suggested to avoid using it for nomad RP purposes.
