The problem was solved when I was advised another link to download. Maybe forum-admins (devs/game-masters/moders) should change the download link?

If only you have problem with slow speed then there is no need to change link.

I downloaded the main freelancer from the torrent - it took 30 minutes (or less, I didn’t notice). When I started downloading a mod with a weight of more than 300 MB from the browser, the situation changed: the browser said that I had to wait 5 hours.

I wrote about this issue on the forum chat, and one of the players shared another link to the mod installer. Oddly enough - downloading took not 5 hours, but only 10 minutes.

Therefore, I write that, perhaps, the problem is not in my Internet, but the link to download the mod-installer.

Of course, the last word belongs to those who run the forums.
