Charles is in coma now, though. So nobles should be pulling the strings.

The Exodus event page says it was him who ordered it.

My theory is that its more like "The orders are coming from far enough up the people on the bottom don't question it and far enough down the King and his court are more-or-less none the wiser"

I was not aware of this and stand corrected.

This is just Sombras opinion as of posting. Lanakov was absolutely of the opinion that New London was cruise missile precision level attacks on military and strategic targets, and yet it plain ended up being 4 cities, mostly civilian targets, getting attacked and killing three hundred million people.

You will see, at the end, that Leeds wasn't targeting infrastructure, but an exercise in genocide.

The point stands that it's cartoon villain Gallia. Burning Leeds is the worst thing they can do frankly, making themselves the enemy of everyone and abandoning any hope of lasting peace with Sirius and further cementing the fact they will never make any friends, a key complaint of GRN players.

Literally anything can be written on paper.

Peace, being the distant dream it is, comes inevitably, and goes hand in hand with justice.
Cursed be the war.

There's still a difference between rumors on inRP paper and dev words on ooRP paper. The above quote is from an event description.

I'm amazed anyone would even stick with them as friends now given what they've just done. Gallia was presented as being cold and calculating - carefully and merticously planning their advance as if they were several steps ahead. This move seems very short sighted and spontaneous.

The thing I hate the most about stuff like this is the Story team writes it in thinking it's cool but doesn't think about the inadvertent consequences the players will have to deal with later down the line, which can't be undone. If Gallia is fine with this development, then fair enough. I wouldn't play ball personally though. It's a lot like the Gaian thing.

Yeah, prior to this I'd been wanting to do some diplomacy with Gallia but this makes it really goddamn difficult to justify anything other than shooting them on sight.

The way Gallia started the war was cartoon villainish.

Razing enemy settlements is what warring factions do, since pre-biblical times up to present day.

If it was something only cartoon villains did, you'd have to count a lot of RL war time leaders, some of them currently celebrated as heros, among them.
