A MONSTER IN THE MIST Newcastle Battle/Escort Event
OVERVIEW
With the end of the Gallic War, the Gaians have found themselves facing a new enemy. Initially hopeful that they would be spared the chaos ravaging the sector, the movement was met with a rude awakening as a previously unimaginable crime has been commited. Millions of Leeds refugees poured onto the surface of Gaia, bringing with them waste and disease, devastating the fragile ecosystem the Gaians fought tooth and nail to protect for one and a half century. However, with the refugees came the fleet, establishing a nigh impenetrable defensive line around the planet. Even in their fury, the Gaians understood they could not defeat this new enemy directly, and so a campaign of a thousand cuts was envisioned.
As every campaign needs a beginning, the Gaians have set out to locate and strike a vital target, one of high value, one that would make their message clear. The Embrun's strike upon Birmingham, and its subsequent retreat and offensive in Newcastle, was no secret to the movement. They knew that the battleship remained somewhere within the system, and they knew it was isolated from the rest of the Enclave's forces.
The Embrun itself, short on supplies and in desperate need of repair, has received the location of a previously uncharted jump hole in the Northumberland Ice Cloud from an informant. Despite the tenuous veracity of the information, with the ragtag Gaian battlegroup quickly closing in on their position, the commanding officer of the Embrun has given the order to flee to whatever system lies beyond the jump hole.
DETAILS
This is a slotted combat event acting as a precursor to the Embrun's relocation.
- Slots are infinite but will only be filled evenly. If there is an overabundance of players for one side they will not be slotted in.
- Do not stack teams full of highly skilled players versus teams of less skilled ones. You know who you are.
- Staff members WILL be present to ensure sides are balanced. Unregistered players will be made severely unhappy. Some registered players will not be able to participate if the other side lacks players.
- GRE players for gameplay purposes will need to dock at South Shields. In lore, these ships are meant to be undocking from the Embrun, but as the Embrun will be a flown Titan for the duration of the event, we ask that players kindly suspend their disbelief regarding FL's limited mechanics.
