Yet again, he offered her a handshake except this time the context seemed more official than the first exchange. She was being welcomed into whatever organization he currently represented. "Welcome to the Crimean Militia. You'll be tasked with killing all manner of Communists, savages, terrorists and traitors. If you choose to stay, that is." He was finished with his drink by now, handing the glass back to a stall attendant and turning around to face his newly acquired 'recruit' once more. "Your family, would you like me to try and have them relocated so that you can see them? If they're willing to move and stay with you on Exeter, then they can travel with you when you decide to leave. If that's impractical, then it's best that they stay where they are. Obscurity comes with a certain degree of safety." There were a few procedures he'd have to arrange, one of them was getting in touch with the Admiral and telling him that one of the more prominent prisoners would have to be listed as absent.

Putting her halfway-finished glass aside, she extended her arm and shook his hand. She couldn't help but worry over what she was getting into - she knew neither about the region, nor who she was even working for. "I would like to see them, but I don't know where I'm headed. What is 'Exeter' exactly? Would my family survive there, amongst you Sirians?" She looked at Keller's eyes unusually sternly - it was clear this was of utmost importance to her.

A question he fully expected to be asked, the recent annexation and subsequent reclassification of the system on the publicly available star-chart was cause for some confusion. "Exeter, formerly Omega 49. Planet Exeter was a zoner colony initially, but their closeness with the local Corsairs attracted Bretonian attention and the world was annexed. Given its relatively isolated position on the frontier, the Bretonians have to rely on the more pragmatic locals willing to cooperate. The Crimean state is such an entity." Pausing momentarily to return her stern look, he would then respond to the latter half of her sentence with all the firmness expected of a soldier. "I already gave you my word regarding your family. If you want them relocated, then they'll be under my protection. The day either you or I leave, I will have them safely relocated along with you. So if you have doubts regarding my intentions, let me make it clear at the outset that I don't want bargaining chips." Even though she hadn't directly accused him of having any ill intentions, it still seemed as if he anticipated the doubt and lack of trust. And his reaction seemed to suggest that he was partially offended by the insinuation, but not so much as to prompt more than just mild frustration.

Ambre was impressed with the Rheinlander's composure, and the response seems to have been to her liking. "Tres bien. I'll ask you this once the opportunity arises - I need to see what kind of place I'm moving to. What happens next?"

If there was any outcome she could have expected from an interview, it's not this one. Going from rotting in prison for years, to working for a militia in a far-away frontier planet...
