Leeds Planetary Orbit - Leeds System
12:50 pm, 02/01/827 A.S.
On board the Eye of Cambridge

He leaned back in the chair as he stared out of the view port. His transport held a high orbit around the planet, just out side of scanner range of a nearby Bretonian battleship, the HMS Norfolk, one of the jewels of the Armed Forces, and a reputable ship that he himself has served plenty of sorties with. Percheron's weren't exactly the easiest ships to hide, and he had a feeling that the Norfolk was tracking him already though they seemed to be keeping to themselves - after all - Leeds still isn't exactly the safest place in Bretonia, even with the war officially ended and the might of the Gallic Royal Navy defeated and scattered. Though their remnants remained in the nearby system of Edinburgh.

A soft sigh left his mouth as he watched the fire storms rage across the planet. Billions of people dead, and their ashes remained on that tortuous hellscape that was once an industrial heart of the Kingdom. As an old soldier who fought in the Tau wars against the Kusari, his heart wept for the people that had lost their lives here, and in this bitter moment of reflection he closed his eyes and drew in another breath. Had he just remained in the Armed Forces... maybe he could have done something to prevent this? Maybe if he had actually been here during this as the hero the kingdom once knew him as... more people would have rallied around him to drive the Gaul advance back to the Edinburgh and Tau-31 gates. This wasn't the first time he felt useless, and he knew it wasn't going to be the last time.

A frantic beeping brought him back to reality as he opened his eyes, quickly taking a glance across the panels around him. Multiple ships were approaching from the dark side of the planet. Every neuron in his body fired up into a fight or flight mode as he's been trained to do, only to actually remember to breath as he relaxed his grips on the controls of his transport, an Armed Forces patrol was making their way back to the Norfolk, and the pings were merely scan requests. It must have been odd to suddenly pick up a transport holding an orbit around a dead world, though he was sure that they wouldn't bother him further if he simply complied to their requests.

Most of the currently serving members of the Armed Forces wouldn't remember who he was, after all.

Austin opened up the comm-link to the approaching Armed Forces squadron and simply waited.
