Thank you @jammi for the mining guide update, It is very helpful.
Thank you, everybody, who worked on this project aiming to enhance the gameplay.
There are two things I would like to ask about, please.
  • Can you add Beryllium ore again to the game (Cambridge system), please?
  • Can you increase the prices of lawful sell points 2-3k more credits, please?

Yes, Bretonia needs another ore. Beryllium or....something else?

    Uh, no. In my personal opinion we should, if anything, decrease them, but we went with the established 6.5 csu, the price that correctly-balanced ores (of which there were almost none) had been using previously.

    Thank you, and yes indeed Bretonia needs more ores. I think Beryllium ore can re-awaken the activity in Cambridge, Nottingham and the Omegas systems Smile - Are you asking to add something else other than Beryllium ores to Bretonia or are you asking to add something in addition to the Beryllium ores to Bretonia? ... By that second option, Bretonia will have 2 new ores which would be AWESOME!

    So ... why now so much to FP9? There are more bases right? If premium scrap and military salvage goes to FP9, why not also to FP10? Or Zoners now only deal with Corsairs, Core and Order? You guys are putting too many transport in the same zone, and that is not good. Whatever!

Please consider what that message you're typing is going to add to the discussion and how much we can use it to make this better. If it's just bile, please refrain or take it to Flood. The old system isn't coming back. Move on. I'm fairly angered at having to issue such evident reminders to act with civility and patience (I almost said kindness, but that seems to be a primer these days) with a volunteer staff that's trying to change things at last.

    No, that is not how you do it and if trading will be "balanced" in a similar manner, then we can all say that some of the factions might as well not stay at "pretending to not exist" actually cease to exist for achieving your goal of "moar player interactions" "in condensed environments". If you can not grasp the simple concept of FACTIONS needing raw materials, thus needing MINERS while not being able to mine themselves and then just making it concentrated on houses because "they are houses" and "muh balans" while apparently there are also contradicting decisions in the data is just incompetence and hypocrisy at a high level, if no incompetence is involved, then there is an absolute bias towards many, many factions.

    Not every faction needs to be able to mine, however buying the materials, at least one form of material, is needed. And there are factions that can not mine, while not having their own mining sellpoint either, I do not see how would they even sustain their resources unless they are intended to be literally slaves of a nearby house now, while houses are pretty much self sufficient.

    Apparently none of the rheinland unlawfuls (they cant even mine things aside of RHA), Coalition (cant mine, no sell point), CR (cant mine, no sell point), Order, IMG, Outcasts and Corsairs, Core, Rogues (cant mine, no sellpoints), LH (cant mine, no sellpoint), FA (cant mine, no sellpoint), Gaians (cant mine, no sellpoint, come on give those guys at least something after you put them under a million buses for creating enclave), BD (cant mine and no sellpoint) does not need any raw materials of any kind while Enclave, Xenos, GC and Hogosha needs all sorts of materials.

    I can bluntly and honestly say, this mining overhaul is absolutely bollocks, the intention behind it, and the attitude of "love it or leave it" or "just play a different faction" is even more bollocks, and this is turning Discovery Freelancer into Discovery Houselancer. If all those non-house factions are not intended to be enjoyed and played, then why even waste devpower and assets to keep them afloat?

    From a pure gameplay perspective, this overhaul makes complete sense. It's just that it's a bit merciless in how it's removed ways unlawful transports can do ores (it's essentially removed visible RP flavour). To be honest, I wouldn't mind if it went a step further and reviewed the imo silly number of IDs that can mine because it messes with activity centralization and roles.

    Even if they're not profitable, I really would not mind some more sell points for ores just so that if I ever sent a comm asking for something, there would be some money to make.

    I really don't like how the local flavor was just ripped away from a lot of places, but I really don't like the god-awful distances I have to travel to pick up any Omicron Ores. I have to travel over 120k in any direction to even reach the nearest Ore field, WITHOUT TRADE LANES, from Freeport 9. Has this been factored into your equations when you were calculating profit/sec?

    Nope, but it will be. At a future point an adjusted formula will include route connectivity, and not just raw distance. I already have the formula for it, but I didn't want to apply it to the current fields if we're going to be revising mining locations anyway.
