I really love the old Condor...I dont mind this design, but would rather it not replace the old condor..maybe make it separate gunboat? 3rd Civie gunboat or 2nd BW gunboat? etc

In my opinion you are doing more than great... Im really looking forward to see this gunboat live on server, it will perfectly fit CTE line! I dont think there would be issues. In all of that there would be always few individuals which will disagree with this as there were in any other ship WIP before

I'm genuinely curios about your reasoning behind pushing so hard for this thing to be a Condor replacement.

Far as I've seen in this thread and also on relevant discord discussions, majority of those who've voiced negative opinions on this submission don't really have anything against your design in particular, they just don't want the current Condor model replaced. Period. Because, y'know, they like the current model (which is of course based on their own subjective personal taste, but that's still just as valid as the subjective personal taste of those who don't like the current Condor). So what if its mesh or texturework isn't AAA tier of quality? It's still better than about half of the other "low quality" ships in the mod and nowhere even near broken enough to require immediate attention. If it looks good enough to be favored by some people, and if its mesh isn't actually broken enough to cause any substantial issues for the engine, why insist on replacing it?

Had you submitted this as a new ship, no one would've complained, people would've appreciated having more openuse gunboats to choose from, and that would've allowed those who like the current Condor to keep flying that, and those who prefer this thing to easily switch (or make a separate new character and have both, instead of either/or), gunboats aren't that expensive after all.

So, why push for something that'll obviously piss people off when there's a simple and straightforward alternative that makes it a win-win for everyone?

Condor is a placeholder. I just want to replace it.
If this doesn't fit we can look into something else.

Condor is a placeholder

We already went through this exact conversation over discord when you first posted that initial sketch, but in case you don't recall: It's not a placeholder, it's a repurposed model - One that's now been in the mod for 6 or howevermany years already and has become the main ship of so many different characters over the years, so even if , just for the sake of argument, we say it indeed was initially intended as a placeholder, by merit of not getting a "proper" replacement in a timely manner, at this point it's more than found its own place in the mod and can no longer be considered a "placeholder" in any sense of the word.

Furthermore, whether or not the current Condor was initially intended as a placeholder is completely irrelevant to the question I asked. So, I have to repeat my question: Why actively insist on a direction that'll leave a portion of our community bitter, when simply submitting this as a new ship instead of a replacement will make everyone happy?

You are writing so much, like if I am arguing with you. I insist on low quality model to be replaced with a better quality one. If this doesn't fit - I'll try another.

I agree with aerelm. I don't dislike this new model, I just like the current condor. Maybe having this added as a second CTE gunboat or an assault transport or something
