Keiko laughed. "There isn't a single thing your organization can do to 'fix' me. Your choices are to keep me locked up forever or let me go with the knowledge that when I leave I am either going to be on the next shuttle that passes near a Chrysanthemum base, or as a passenger on a freighter that stops at the Outcast homeworld. Those two organizations are my home and will always be my home. It is in my blood. Blood can rarely be ignored."Keiko was careful not to reveal any information on where the bases in question could be found.
"Fixing you is not much about us, but about you. If you dont want, there is no force that can help. Every criminal has it's own choices and when leaves prison he can steal again or murder again. And it's not even in my power to release you. You never wanted real family? Kids, peaceful home?"
"I have seen what 'real family' life is like in Kusari. The men go to work and the women stay home and are essentially slaves. Yes it has gotten better in years, as the fact that you are a woman in the police force as proof. But do you not get treated differently by your older colleagues? I am sure there are many that look at you with disrespect in your police force. No. I do not want a family here in Kusari. And even if I wanted a family I am still young. When my work here in Kusari is finished I will go have a family in Bretonia or Hispania."
Izumi looked at Keiko and laughed a little when door opened and doctor with dose of Cardamine appeared. "Haha, yes disrespect, but i'm chief of my police department and goverment doesn't pay attention to us at all. Oh, have this .. this will make you more comfortable." She waved her hand to a doctor and he placed dose on a table and left a room.
"What about addiction? I heard you GC use addiction as protection against infiltration, but aren't you worry that after all this ends, you wont be able to have children? Because they will be addicted as you are?"
Keiko was relieved when the doctor appeared with her dose. She was pleased that it was a pill this time and not an injection. Keiko never had the same response to liquid cardamine that she had to the capsule form.
"Is there any way I can have a cup of tea?" she asked hopeful.
"Addiction isnt a problem for Outcast and GC children. In Bretonia cardamine is legal in small amounts and of course in the Outcast sector of Hispania it is legal."
"A tea? I think it won't be a problem. When we speak about Bretonia and Hispania. What is the result you want? I know that GC wants equality for women like me. And i appreciate the idea, but not paths they are taking. I dont want to be recognized by blood spilled. But what you want? Why Hispania and Bretonia? What if Kusari goverment will treat women not like slaves and like equal beings .. why wouldn't stay here?" Izumi take a while and then stood up and went for a door, clearly ordering a tea.
"Hispania has been my home more than Kusari has. I just support the cause that GC are fighting for. I already have established roots there. A home, hundreds of acres of land. In your reports it should show that a good chunk of the cardamine your organization has confiscated over the years comes branded with my family seal. I own a sizable plantation."
Once her tea had arrived Keiko broke the cardamine capsule in two and poured the powder inside into her tea, letting it dissolve in the liquid.
"So you are mostly intersted in a drug" said izumi looking as drug was disolved in tea "What about violence? Murders? What about women killed and mourning their husbands that were killed in cause, when you try to help them? Would you like to talk to them? Those women and girls crying that their love is dead and they will never see them?"
"Ah, but when I was leader of the GC my cell would not senselessly murder. There were deaths yes, but we made an effort to capture the pilots of the vessels we destroyed and would make sure that eventually they made their way home. After we interrogated them of course."
"Things have changed. GC is not just surrendering officers back to their homes. They are murdered. Like cattle, women and men alike. To fill the cause. With every man, with every woman families lose their relatives and mourning their loses just to chose to guard law. Prevent thefts and crimes. Even me, when i meet blood dragons we can reason with each other, that Kusari spilled a lot of blood and no more is needed. But when i meet GC they are all about attack and kill that officer. Only few times our encounters were diferent. I have mother that loves me and i have father. Is that what is it about? Murder officers until only mourning crowd remains to be ruled?" Said Izumi with soft voice examining Keiko carefuly.
