All right, I NEED a new and better performing computer, mine is only just able to play Freelancer smoothly on low detail, which frankly lowers my fun. Not to mention it takes me ages to load Microsoft Office so I can work at home for college.

Here is what Xfire makes of my PC:
Quote:Manufacturer: MAXDATA
Processor: AMD Athlon™ XP 2000+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.7GHz
Memory: 224MB RAM
Hard Drive: 41 GB
Video Card: VIA/S3G KM400/KN400
Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor
Sound Card: Vinyl AC'97 Audio (WAVE)
Speakers/Headphones:
Keyboard: USB Root Hub
Mouse: USB Root Hub
Mouse Surface:
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254)
Motherboard:
Computer Case:

I have two choices.

Go to eBay and hunt for parts
or
Get a new PC and hopefully get a college grant in September.

What do you guys think?

Cost me $600 from The Source for:
AMD Athlon 4000+
1 GB DDR2 Mem
160 GB HD
DVD-RW
On board video was better than my 256MB card
9-in-1 card reader
Windows Vista, Office, PowerPoint

I suggest a new one they're getting cheap

A new one definitely. Prepping the old one becomes too costly to maintain.

Keep your eyes peeled for super offers on big retailers. There are usually one or two weak parts in it, but still they would eat your current computer for breakfast.

For one thing do not under any circumstances buy an AGP using motherboard. It's a dying breed.

Flying under radar.

And, if the graphics card is anything less than a 512 MB and the processor is less than 2.0, chances are Vista's a bad idea, downgrading to XP would be more adviseable.
