As a brief reminder and my apologies if this wasn't clear at the outset, the below is intended to keep lawful IDs out of said fields for this event. BHG IDs and unlawful IDs are welcome in the fields.

Rule Changes:

  • Within New York, no participating smuggler may be engaged before leaving or after entering an asteroid field, nebula, or debris field by lawful IDs. Participating smugglers may be engaged by Bounty Hunter IDs on snub craft within such areas, however.

So, because lawful IDs cannot chase participating smugglers, why was this reminder spurred by a lawful ID attempting to interdict a non-participating smuggler?
I'm genuinely confused here.

Participating is flying back too. Since it's difficult to tell... just stay out of the fields for this event?

I mean, as far as I'm aware, I'm still allowed to follow them. The rule only forbids engaging them.
I'm also fairly certain that this doesn't look like Cardamine.

Wait, why can only snubs be allowed when Bounty Hunters can field gunboats? Is there some limitation to it? Also, because the participants must have an unlawful ID, which means they are legally bounty targets, I don't see any reason behind the snub-only restriction. I fear I may have tripped over something leading to a possible sanction.

Quote:For nebulas, fields, etc., lawfuls avoid them as they're dangerous. Once a smuggler makes it in, they've found their safe zone. Bounty Hunters have intimate knowledge of things in those areas, though, and they keep their mouths shut on that information to maintain an advantage in the market and find their prey when hidden.

"This is the end of the road for Cardamine shipments, at least as far as we're concerned. Rogue smugglers take over for the last leg to the Junker base of Rochester. We prefer the safety and protection offered by the Badlands."

The intent is to attempt to somewhat follow vanilla lore regarding the Cardamine route from Malta to Rochester and encourage specific faction gameplay related to the route by providing advantages through area access or immediately-payable bounties (BHG, Police, etc.). The snub restriction for BHG IDs was partially gameplay (gunboats aren't the most fun in fields) and partially to mirror the ships you do find in those areas.

Actually, I wasn't aware of that one small detail until now. I fly an SRP Bounty Hunter IDed gunboat with a lot of background RP, and have always played by the rules ever since that incident several months ago when I asked an unreasonable demand to a trader in a different character. While it makes sense that lawfuls aren't supposed to hunt smugglers in nebulae or fields, for Bounty Hunters, I personally think gunboats are okay for those hardened enough to take on the risks of venturing there, because a lot of time has passed since the events of vanilla Freelancer.

Cheers. Sorry if I didn't clarify my thoughts enough.
