New Horizon Industries Scientific Log Entry #1 - Bio
My name is Paul Canavan and I would like to shortly introduce myself. I was born in 761AS in Bretonia, in Leeds on Glasgow Outpost to be precise. An outpost which was destroyed several years ago used to be home of my parents, who, to be honest, had very boring logistics and shipping jobs working for Bowex. But I was interested in science from the very young age. I was merely fascinated with high-speed space travel on long distance and the mysteries of the universe. That's why I dedicated my life to attend one of the most prestigious schools in the Sirius sector in Cambridge system, Bretonia. You could even say, I was once a promising scientist in 790's, earning doctorates in astrophysics and then in xenoarchaeology. Altough I never met them personally, I was even blessed by remotely co-working with the very best scientists of that time like a professor of xenoarcheology Roland Quintaine. an expert on Dom'Kavash culture, and also a professor of astrophysics Hermann Van Pelt, an expert on timespace anomalies.
I started my career as a lecturer at Cambridge University in Bretonia and spent some time charting artifacts, mostly from planet Sprague and Pygar, but we can talk about this later, because that would a whole different log. Shortly after that I received a very generous offer from Ageira Technologies. I didn't hesitate a moment and I moved right away to Colorado where I worked at Pueblo Station in Research and development division. I am not going to lie, it was one hell of job, good money and the best high-tech available, we were working on trade lane and jumpgate technologies. There were also several new means of travel on bigger distances in development, but we didn't get to finish it because things changed quickly, funding stopped and people started to act strangely. That was the beginning of what is now known as the Nomad War. I was lucky enough to flee to the Edge Worlds where I lived among the Zoners in the Omicrons for years and continued in my research on my own. I spent most of my time at Freeport 9 and later on Corfu in Omicron Theta. I never had free time, I mean I had plenty of it but I was always working anyway. You would usually find me drinking coffee in my quarters, analyzing data I collected, often staring at the whiteboard, perhaps looking for a meaning of life. The enlightenment never came, I became obsessed with my work and it was all that existed for me. I never had a desire to return to the colonies and have a life of a mediocre scientist. I knew that the real truth is really out there.
Many years later, I realized I am just stuck and even worse, I ran almost out of all my resources. I think I spent too much time in the isolation and focused on something I don't even know exists. There were times I almost dream I've spent my life differently. Maybe I perished in an arrogant self-reliance years ago. However, I told myself that it is time to get my life together and wake up from this trance. Just recently on Freeport 11, I came across a group of people I've never seen there before. We had a drink and a very interesting conversation. They were part of an organization called New Horizon Industries. I felt that was exactly what I needed - new horizons to explore and also something that will provide me more profits, but you know, for me, it is not all about the credits. I needed a safe environment, time and equipment to continue in my research. That's when I decided to cooperate with NHI. Most of my recent contracts for them were related to mining and hauling operations in the Edge Worlds, but here I am now, getting a fresh start. Well, enough of talking about me and history that cannot be changed. Now, when once more it seems that the goal is in sight again. It is time to take on my findings, theories and my new friends as well as new challenges...
