I have some news to report regarding the Archer. Progress has halted on the assembly, as most of the crew was busy keeping our snub craft wings operational during these tumultuous times. With more and more people fighting for the Free Republic, we need all the able-bodied men and women capable of doing proper maintenance. Especially with the Insurgency slowly crumbling. I'm sure you have your hands full trying to handle these rats trying to escape from the maze they have created. Not to mention the hair dye withdrawal, but I digress.
There is a second, and arguably more important reason for my message. It is about the 'Star Lance' mounted on the cruiser. It is assembled, and appears to be functional. However, I don't think it would be wise to utilise it in the long run.
While we are capable of maintaining a single siege cruiser, the methods of obtaining the components will be problematic. Not to mention this is bound to be too expensive, especially considering some of the recent additions to the Free Republic. I got some solutions in mind.
We could get some of the more tech savvy member of the Alliance to look at the current design, and come up with replacement parts for the more expensive components.
The downfall of the Insurgency presents us with an opportunity. There are plenty of wrecks, scattered all over. You could authorize scavenge parties to examine said wrecks. Even if this doesn't result in any success, this could help identify the weak points of the cruiser. Survivorship bias, and all.
Increase the job board pay-out for the siege cruisers. We might get some bits and pieces after fights.
These are just rough ideas, but it might help in making our own bastardized version of the 'Star Lance'.
Other than that, are you hanging in there? Last time I passed by, you looked like shit.
Surviving off scraps isn't exactly a viable long term strategy for a nation trying to stabilize itself and organize. But identifying the weaknesses of our ship before we field it and have to find out through practical experience would be useful, so I'll authorize salvage efforts for that purpose.
Could we not just come up with our own design for this Archer's primary weapon system? It may end up fairly antiquated when compared to the original, but as long as it gets the job done with more or less the same efficiency it doesn't really matter. See if you can't get back to me on this after talking to some of the workshop management at the Fort.

Analyzing the wrecks should at least give some of our less combat oriented pilots something to chew on. Saves me the time and energy, at least they don't loiter around the hangars.
I reckon it would be doable. If we had access to older databanks, we could possibly look up some of the older prototypes. The rebel is a flying exhibit piece, I don't see why there shouldn't be an antiquated forward gun somewhere out there. Even without such, this particular archer could be turned into a test bed. Open market cruiser weapons pushed to their absolute limits, and so on. You could pull some strings on your end, and fetch some heavy weapons from capital vessels. I'm sure you could pester the order, after all the dirty work we did for them.
I'll get back to you about this later. The folks at the Fort always have an idea or two.

Workshop management got back to me. Simply put, if there is a way to replace the 'Lance with our own design we are going to will it into existence. For starters, we could go with a job posting of 4 scanned Archer wrecks. The main focus should be the coaxially mounted cannon. We need to see if there's a common theme with the damaged/missing parts. Better correct the design faults and make our own set of problems.
For the second stage, you might need to contact some of our Order 'buddies'. Don't make me do it, unless you want me to strain the diplomacy. We could use anything from common parts, to their expertise and blueprints about forward guns. Any scrap of knowledge will do. Depending on their willingness, we'll talk about specifics.

Maintenance crew refusing to work, some flatout not showing up for shifts. Ships disappearing from the roster, parts going missing with them. I can only think of the recent dealings that might have caused this.
You better have an ace up your sleeve, because so far this is nothing but a two and a seven before the flop. I already had two belligerent workers trying to go at me because I dared to urge them back to work. I hope the infirmary doesn't plan a strike at this rate.
Ouray and even Ramsey, at least last I was there, were fine. This was two decades in the making so I'm surprised people are up in arms over what we were fighting the Junkers for. The good news is that once the shipments start, I can fund an actual development project and maybe even finance the acquisition of materials we'd otherwise not be able to afford or even just maintain.
Swap them out with a fresh crew, and give that one double the usual benefits. I'll sign all the requisition orders and have the stuff shipped over, give the people throwing tantrums nothing.
At least not until they realize that founding nations carries a price.
