Main Concept

Project "Umbra"

Project "Umbra" is a prototype Cloaking Mechanism that expands on the already existing concept of EM Radiation masking. Albeit the regular Cloaking Devices allow for the ships to remain hidden on scanner, they don't make them completely invisible. Project "Umbra" expands on this technology by adding real-time holographic emulation of surroundings, enveloping the ship in virtual camouflage.

The second part of this project is to have the Cloaking Device's power source to be integrated into the ship in order to cease reliance on Cloak Batteries. This would provide with additional power drain, which could be drawn form weaponry and shielding systems which are naturally inactive while the Cloaking Device is operative.

Cloaking Device Mk 2 Advanced

A standard Battleship-fit Cloaking Device. It bends EM Radiation in order to hide the ship's emissions, rendering them "invisible" to most radars. They have integrated power plants and are powered by Cloaking Device batteries. In order for the device to function properly, the ship's shielding screen has to be disabled. Vulnerable to sources of EMP, such as Cruise Disruptors and EM Pulse Emitters.

Holographic Emulation System

Holographic Emulation Systems (further - HES) are the most common type of Holographic Entertainment, on par with Hypnotainment Bands. They provide the best view of any place possible with real-time calculated emulation. HES consists out of cameras and holographic emitters. While the cameras scan the environment, the emitters create a holographic image of it. A highly advanced Artificial Intelligence is required to operate HES at minimal delay of 0.0 seconds.

Local Protection System

Local Protection System (further - LPS) is a theorized shielding array designed to last even when the main shielding screen is down. Its one and only purpose is to guard the HES, creating miniscule shield bubbles across the outer hull right above HES cameras and emitters. It is theorized that in order to have such defenses, multiple minimalized shielding devices will have to be installed across the outer hull.

Working Principle

---

As the Cloaking Device is activated, the EMR array scans the environment, masking the ship's emissions with surrounding radiation. HES remains inactive until the radiation is completely masked. When the EMR array is operative, the AI will scan the environment with HES cameras. Both HES cameras and emitters will be located on the outer hull of the ship, protected by local shield bubbles. HES emitters will create a holographic shroud around the ship, rendering it invisible both visually and on scanners.
