Hello, I have a question. Is it standard procedure for DTR cap-ship players to shoot and kill fighters during group fights?

Mind you in the case I reference, the fighters were only attacking each other (and a bomber), and there were plenty of other capital class targets to be had.

From my point of view, it seemed a tactic on your part and indeed not just an outlier.

Please give some clarification to this.

Hey, let me provide some clarity on this one.

There is no general fleet doctrine or policy that we adhere to in fleet battles / in PvP. It goes without saying though that we strive to follow the server rules as much as possible and address failings when that isn't the case.

As far as tactics, in a fleet battle, our capital ships will support our bombers and fighters by providing covering fire or being used as an indirect shield to soak enemy fire, if they are under pressure by opposing snubs. If the opportunity presents itself to eliminate an enemy, our ships will take it. This makes sense from a strategic perspective and more importantly from an RP one.

In terms of fleet composition, there's a reason why anti-snub builds exist on capital ships and we've done our best to adapt as much as possible both by learning from old-time veterans and from observing our enemies employing similar tactics.

Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties.

Hello, thank you for the concise response.

I understand your position and how you came to it, and I personally find little fault in your reasoning. That being said I do have some feedback to give.

You see, I have built such assets for the 46th| and have in the past used them to defeat enemy bombers. But, I would not use them to kill fighters (unless in self-defense or otherwise having no choice, IE to protect a transport).

Group fights in particular can be hectic, I know. But at least let the fighters pew each other before gunning them down with caps. This is why they came to the fight in the first place.

We must as OF's strive to do better than the bare minimum when it comes to safeguarding the gameplay environment. Specifically in regards to PVP engagements.

Caps killing bombers? This is perfectly fine. Caps killing fighters while they pew other fighters? This will be considered bad behavior by most people.

I think that RP in New Berlin was excellent! The genius move of putting marines on board. Great in-game RP. Much enjoyed. And the opportunity for more RP along a similar vein is there.

Oh they joy in death, those who undertake to remove the corpses of ship and sailor.

Thank you so much for the kind words. As I wrote in your kudos - I am really happy that you enjoyed the encounter and you actually went along with it. I will be PM-ing you in terms of additional RP and what we can develop together from here. Looking forward to it.

Hello, we are looking to not see a quantity among quality. I understand that PoB usually makes people log more to defend, but there is nothing to defend a PoB which was decaying and also not also Dropping 8 battleships, 4-5 bombers, 3 cruisers, 2 BCs on 4 Coalition people.

Plus, teach your people not to log off from the fight in the middle of space, as one of your amigo did.

Did not see anybody logging off from the fight.

To just give a short correction on your numbers:
You might have forgotten to count in the 5+ RHA ships that were supporting you as well as the one Auxo.

According to my perception our numbers were
- 3 BS instead of 8 (2 more arriving in the middle of the main fight)
- 1 BC arriving after the main fight was done
- 2 Cruisers instead of 3
- 1 GB

Also on a general note: afk-sieging a POB is not the most gentleman-like thing to do. Tongue

3 Murmi 1 BC 4 Cruisers 8 bombers (Dunno who was CNS-Amorgos, but count it as 9th) was a last-time played agains 2 Tempests, 1 Jorm 1 Hurricane and 1 Phoon and 3 gbs. We are here looking for a outnumbering and taking by quantity, If you want to get kill any faction activity nearby yourself - you're doing good.

Edit: PoB will fall some day. Just a matter of time.
