GutenTag meine Damen und Herren,

Let me introduce myself, im Julian Müller, Headadministrator of Breuninger Depot in New Berlin.
Well its maybe not that comm'n that you recive an request from Rheinland but its about something your Zoners are very good in it seems.
Everyone i talked about it told me ask the Zoners!
We run Breuninger in the range of the White Giant of New Berlin, who puts out a good power of Solar energy, there is where you maybe come into it.
Nearly all of your Freeports run with Solar Panels who gain Electric power of the nearby Sun's.
This is what we are looking for too, we are aware of that the Output can't 100% cover our needed Power but this will at least cover a good amount of it.
Let us please know if you are able to add a big Solar module to our Base and how many Panels are needed for this, your Years of experience should have an Answer to this.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
Julian Müller

Güten Abend Herr Müller,

Thank you for contacting us and do apologize the delay, we had some urgent matters at hand before we could address your message. Having said that, allow me to introduce myself, my name is William Kelso, CEO of OSI but please call me Bob as this is the name my friends and customers use nowadays.

I have contacted the engineers at Nichols and they informed me that they can help you out but they do need some more information. Now what they need is the relative position and distance from your station to the white giant. Furthermore, they are curious on the level your station currently has and the level it wished to acquire within a given time.

All this information shall, of course, be regarded and treated as "customer confidential" yet it is vital information our engineers need. You see, OSI is not an engineering firm so we can only estimate the amount of solar panels based on the experiences from not only our station, but Freeports as well. This will take time and any information we get from your engineers will help us to make a good estimate.

Again, I am employing you to consult an engineering firm before placing an order. Yet, should you be firm to consider OSI to undertake this job we are more than willing to help you out. We will, however, need to consult external engineering experts as to ensure we give you the correct advise.

Should you agree to this then please let us know and we will work out the details.

Sincerely,

William 'Bob' Kelso - Chief Executive Officer - Omicron Supply Industries

Guten Tag Bob!

Your nickname reminds me of an old friend, sounds familiar!
No worries about some time delay, Gut ding will weile haben.
I did ask our crew to scann how far the Giant is away its arround 46 K and our Station is on the Road to reach the 4th extension Stage, hopefully we can reach this soon!

We are currently working on progresses to refine Ore's into the future, if this will work as we looking for we might need even more Poweroutput so all power we can produce from the Sun energy is welcome.

We really like the fact that your efforts to make this possible, of cause we are okay if you will need to ask some external's of cause!
Bitte take the time all the time who's needed to make this possible, the efficiency is our doings is one of your main Goals, so if Breuninger can run like 50% or maybe more on full Solar electric power would be awsome Bob!

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
Julian Müller

Güten Tag Herr Müller,

Thank you for the information regarding the position and distance from the stellar body. I have relayed this to our engineering team and they have assured me that their team is up for the job without the need to consult an external company. They do, however, want to visit your station. Now I'm not a technical guy (mind you, I am happy to work the oven in my ship but that's about it) but the engineers need some on-site information. Both outside of the installation as well as on the inside. Something to do with power grid and such.

As the team is currently spread throughout Sirius they can make it to your station coming Friday. They will arrive around noon and I will be accompanying them. It's good to have a day away from the office after all this time. If you agree to our site visit, please let me know.

Now to the finance part of this (Janice, from accounting, stands in front of me as we speak) the projected costs for this are 400m SC. This includes both the site survey, station calibration and possible upgrade of electrical systems, as well as personnel costs. If your accounting department could do Janice the favor of making a down-payment of 40m SC (10%) to OSI-Bank.Deposits we can start making arrangements for the site visit.

Provided you agree with this of course.

Looking forward to hear from you. (By the way, may I call you Julian?)

Güten Tag Herr Müller,

Thank you for allowing me to address you by your first name. As you mentioned that it is not Rheinlander customary to do so I will address you by "Herr Müller" because I personally know how difficult the various changes can become in corporate communications. I prefer to address you in a way which you are accustomed to and have notified my crew to do accordingly should this be needed.

Our engineering team will arrive in the afternoon of the 26th of February. Your offer of accommodation is most welcomed as, while the conditions on board are excellent, our crews thrive on meeting other people. Especially your engineering crew for what better way to work together is when to be able to get to know each other and to relax.

The finance department informed me of your payment. Thank you very much for your kindness and trust in us. I am sure the crew of OSI visiting your station will do their best to ensure a good and swift conclusion of this contract which you entrusted us with.

Herr Müller, allow me to try my best in your language: "Vielen Dank für Ihr Vertrauen"

Sincerely,

William 'Bob' Kelso - Chief Executive Officer - Omicron Supply Industries

Güten Tag Herr Müller,

I am pleased to inform you that our engineers have finished their site survey of Breuninger Depot. I am happy to share their report with you:

[+]Breuninger Depot solar panel and electrical upgrade report (CUSTOMER CONFIDENTIAL)

Requested task:
The customer wishes to upgrade the station with solar panels and has mentioned that the station will be expanded in the near future. The request is to see whether solar panels are a technical possibility and which and how many panels would be required to power the station as well as if the current power grid and electrical systems can accommodate such an upgrade.

Site Survey results:
Results from the site survey conducted from February 26 till March 1 have yielded the following parameters:
  • Station Type 3, reactor type 3L powered with a 2MV power storage and a type 6 power distribution system;
  • White giant type F7 with 7k temperature and a low luminosity of 1.045 (average from probes and recalculated measurements), mass of 1.67x10e32kg and a diameter of 6.31x10e8km;
  • Distance from station to stellar body: 45.35k with an upward angle of 91.2 degrees from station (measurements);

Initial analysis from the survey shows that both the distance and the angle from the stellar body can, in theory, provide surplus power for a station type 3 by using solar panels alone. Should the station be upgraded to a type 4 than internal station power can be guaranteed up to 78 percent when the current machinery on station remains the same. Yet as the station currently has a 3L reactor both systems combined at peak output will provide 131 percent of needed energy of a type 4 station.

Panel selection:
While the distance from the stellar body is suitable for any available commercial type solar panel the angle from the station towards the stellar body rules out the use of stepped-angled panels. As these panels (3x8 panels measuring 100x9 meters, surface area of 21.600 meters) are banked in three separate layers the angle towards the stellar body would not be optimal enough for the solar energy to reach the two sets of panels behind the first. Thereby not fully using the capacity.

Considering the angle from the stellar body a better option would be the hexagonal shaped panels which are, since the last manufacturer's update, slightly octagonal yet they are still branded under the same name. A single hexagonal panel has a surface area of 16.000 meters and based on the needs two panels would be needed to ensure enough power for a type 4 station.

Power system upgrade:
Together with your engineers we have analysed the current generators, batteries and power grid systems on the station. While the current reactor type 3L provides ample amount of energy to power the station with the assistance of solar panels we strongly recommend an upgrade to a heavier type 3H reactor. Should there be plans to upgrade the station beyond a type 4 we recommend a type 4H reactor instead. Should a 3H reactor be considered we recommend to upgrade the power grid with both the batteries, cabling and power distribution for a 4H reactor as the type 3H can utilize the type 4H power grid and power losses are negligible.

Recommendations:
Based on the detailed explanation from both the customer and the engineers during the survey we have the following recommendations:
  • Upgrade the power systems by changing the current 3L reactor for a 4H reactor including internal overhaul with 4H compatible batteries, cabling and power distribution systems;
  • Install 2 hexagonal solar panels;
  • Expand the current system- and power engineering team with 30 permanent staff;

Requirements:
Should the recommendations be accorded the OSI engineers need the following requirements to be met:
  • 22.000 Solar Panels
  • 10.000 Industrial Hardware
  • 10.000 Nanocapacitors
  • 5.000 Magnetic Superconductors
  • 2.000 Magnets
  • 2.000 Superconductors

Report written by:
Barry Smith,
Chief Engineer OSI

Report verified by:
Lane McEnvoy,
1st Engineer Freeport 1

Please let me know if and when you would like OSI to schedule a new appointment as to discuss the upgrade to Breuninger Depot.

Sincerely,

William 'Bob' Kelso - Chief Executive Officer - Omicron Supply Industries

Guten Tag Bob!

What should i say, im quite impressed what your worker's plan here!
I have read the report of Lane McEnvoy, everything sounds good at this, if it would help our Large Containerships can do a part of the needed deliveries.
Your plans about installing huge Solar panels and the numbers of power they can produce really fits our interest about make our Breuninger Depot more Efficent!
So continue the work bitte, our Transport will deliver as i said the needed Materials at the fastest possible time.
If something is missing let me know, we want this to be happen as soon as possible!
for now, thanks Bob!

Güten Tag Herr Müller,

After our meeting when the site survey report was approved OSI's chief engineer Barry Smith started the work in close cooperation with your crews. Now I know Barry sometimes gets so enthusiastic with the job at hand that he forgets to keep me updated. I don't mind though. I know he's doing a great job and that he loves what he does well. Fortunately the progress report landed on my desk today and reading it makes me happy. As you probably knew before I did, the upgrade of the station is ahead of schedule thanks to what Barry describes as: "Coordinated on-time deliveries and a very eager and skilled crew at Breuninger Depot.". From what I've been told the upgrade should be done within the next two weeks. After that there will be another week of post-upgrade checks and tests. The training for your engineers will be done in that week as it's the best moment for training-on-the-job.

As Barry is on site and obviously in control of the upgrade, I have given him the freedom to contact you directly regarding engineering matters. I myself will plan a visit to you on the 10th of April should that suit you.

Do let me know if my site visit fits your schedule as it would be a great opportunity for me to see both the progress made as well as to meet you again in person.

Sincerely,

William 'Bob' Kelso - Chief Executive Officer - Omicron Supply Industries
