heck, I like the idea.

Also it may sound like the admins or whomever won't like the idea of putting in these ships if only 1 faction can use it if it takes alot of work. And maybe factions should have a shared account with their bank and flagship so it can be used more often...

anyways, I support this idea, now who wants to moddle these babe's?

although idea has some potential, all of them can't be sold on Battlestar Lost...FL has limitation of selling 3 ships per base, so before we put admins to work we should resolve that.

no modelling nessecary, im only suggesting a increased stat version of the current battleships swiss, like a heavier armoured version sacraficing speed for all out defense

yes doom i had this descussion with dboy it is most deffinentely a issue that needs to be looked into, making a system thats not accesible would be a good idea, or maybe just throw in a couple of admin affiliated bases in bastille?

Interesting, I don't speak for S/D, but this thread got me thinking.
We are house based so we only use fighters and bombers.
It would be an interesting story, and no doubt some conflict if we can have a flagship in house space.
We are headquartered on New London and are around Sheffield alot.
Can we see a Flagship coming out of Sheffield or New London?

I'm well in support of the idea.

Besides any concerns about the fairness of the proposal, I would like to argue in favor of increasing not only the armour of the ships, but also adding a few weapons hardpoints and increasing the energy supply...in fact, I would argue for that over an armour increase. Best defense is a strong offense, as they say....and tossing in extra guns would make it more dangerous, even with the shield down, b making it easier to hit...

How do you think to make it work?
Make every capship Mk2 and sell it on Battlestar2?

Because, you can't have an idea which capital ship I want for my factions flagship.
It might be even a cruiser. Should a cruiser be more powerful too?
There are questions here that need answering before we can go on with the discussion.
What's the plan?

I think it's a good idea, enemy bombers will have to work hard to get that flagship down, and when they do that it's gonna be much better then destroying a regular BS.

Also, if you would want to be totally fair, strong flagships should go only to the 4 Houses.
Not even Corsairs and Outcasts should get them.
It would be silly, for example, to see a Hogosha flagship, for example Kusari Explorer with 3x more armor..
It's not a flagship, it's an overpowered boat.

actually that could be good idea...

and besides, with current strict faction approvals and limited numbers of battleship owning factions, after first blow this wouldn't have much impact on admin work.

Well, before we launch into it I would treat the oft repeated 'two bombers can kill a battleship' claim with high suspect and disdain. True it's theoretically possible, but it would likely take the two best pilots on the server against someone who doesn't know what turret mode is. And about twenty minutes of shooting.

However that's because bombers are balanced against gunboats, cruisers are rarely piloted by folks who know what they're doing *grimly recalls Mon'Star vaping his pair of Xeno bombers, proving that he's an oorp haxxorz* etc etc etc same tired stuff that we all know.

As to currently piloted battleships being as powerful as they should be? Heavens no, they've been epically nerfed. Battleships are basically just a tougher, slower cruiser which is even more at risk of being destroyed by gunboats which can snipe and run from long distances.

However, Battleships did not find themselves in their current state due to chance. Back in the long long ago, or so I've been informed, Battleships were appropriately uber and as such they were used by everyone all the time, smaller ships were not invited to come along and fight while persons could only shake their fists impotently as five BSG Battlestars rolled through systems.

Now, the same situation is largely in place, that of five battleships being able to roll through pretty much anything in their path, but they -can- be destroyed by a reasonable force. Battleships are currently tough, but they're a bit shy of being an "I win" button, to balance their potency out with the player base's utilization.

Now, if somehow the powers that be reckoned on restricting the number of the things that were to be fielded the potency could be increased to reflect that. However, again, the problem with doing so lies within the community's mixed feelings on how restrictions of vessels could, or should, be handled.

Until such a consensus is met and agreed upon by a measurable majority of the community and admin base, I can't see and differences being made to things such as faction approved super ships (No matter how well grounded in reason), or any other issues torn between fictional reality and game balance.

Just my two cents, suggest taking it with a cup of coffee and a eggwich.

You don't have to sell them anywhere really. Change the ship out using IFSO. As far as i'm aware that'd work perfectly fine. Also, one little thing, i think they shouldn't have all the vanilla ship components and whatnot, so they can't be insta-killed with a blast radius.

Also, for each faction that can have one, they should be able to post with what they're like to be improved the most, what they'd like to be improved (which ship) and what they'd like it to be called. It'd bring a lot more RP to it if the infocard was different too, giving a little history of the flagship. Would be quite cool.

Adding extra hardpoints would be the difference between making a whole 'new' ship and simply adjusting stats. Such as you see for the MKI and MKII version of fighters.

Something to keep in mind.
