It's probably well known around here already, but I'll lay out the problem first-

-Currently, if you get to friendly rep (full green) with any pirate faction, they stop pirating you. They no longer demand you drop your cargo, which means pirates have nothing to fear from their own faction's NPC's outside of the odd train disruptor that hits one.

-On the other hand, lawfuls dont have the same attitude. Even if you get to max friendly rep with a police or navy faction, they will continue to demand that you drop your contraband - primarily it's because of pirate pilots that you have in your hold after killing enemy NPC's.

Is there any way to change this? Any way to make it so that police and navy NPC's stop scanning you for contraband if you're friendly?

It's probably hardcoded, and at least prevents reputation-abuse by traders.

It has been awhile, so forgive me for poor memory. But I think I do remember one Discovery mod version in which pilots captured from NPC kills were not considered contraband from lawful NPCs. I think it can be done, since I think that the NPC pilots commodity were added to the Discovery mod.

..I'm only going by my memory on this, so please don't quote me on it..:P

maybe it should be reverted then. It'd fix the lawfuls pirating their own players issue, and would also stop bounty hunter npcs from demanding fleet admirals from liberty dreadnaughts...

As far as I know there should be a way to have lawful NPCs do the same thing, because if you think about it, it could be running under the same type of coding pirate NPCs use. 'Cause it is 'a form of pirating' for lawful NPCs, just a different voice file and searching for other cargo.

So all in all, I believe it can be done. But as Praetyre said, it can easily be abused by Traders quite a bit, especially in Liberty (As the rep starts out green). Could end badly...

It'd be nice to carry a NPC pilot in your hold as a lawful. (For roleplaying purposes.)

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

Pilots shouldn't be considered contraband by the NPCs. It messes things up too much.

I can keep civi pilots in my golf and not a single npc has a problem with it. The same should be done with police military bh and pirates. Any player would have an rp reason to have them in their hold weather it be a rescue, capture, or actually you in there.
