Greetings to all:

I'm adressing to you as, arguably, you're the people who currently manage, govern, or are someone relevant in our little Zoner society here at Omicron Theta. If I have left someone out, I hope don't take it into account, there is no intention to offend.

As I imagine you know, for the last 3 years and until the present moment, I'm the leader of the New Covenant Church, a humble religious cult actually based here on Planet Pygar. Anyway, if you didn't know, now you know, so let's get to the point that matters.

A few days ago I heard with concern that the Corsair Empire has militarily occupied Freeport 9 and is holding its inhabitants as hostages, forcing them work in the production of the biodomes. I ordered one of my Pontifical Guard pilots to fly in his interceptor to go over there and see how things were, just to get an idea, and it seems that the situation is serious. There is a Praefect cruiser placed at short distance from the base, and constant patrols of fighters around it. Additionally, my pilot attempted to dock to personally gather more information, and Freeport traffic control denied him access. I have no idea what the state of things is inside, and what situation the inhabitants of the Freeport are in, but I imagine that they must not be very good.

The truth is that, after what the Zoner community has suffered in recent years at the hands of Bretonia and Liberty, this is already the last offense, and it's too much. I truly fear for the safety of my brothers in the Faith of Deux, and for the destiny of all of us who simply wish to live in peace outside the impositions of the Houses and the great powers. That is why it's my responsibility, as a leader of my people, to do as much as I can to ensure the safety of our living space.

Obviously I'm not going to fool myself, the resources of my Church are insufficient to do anything for ourselves. My Pontifical Guard barely has a hundred members and a few poorly armed interceptors, and our Trade Division only has 3 old transports. That is why I turn to all of you for help and guidance. I would like to know if there is some kind of action plan, or roadmap, that has been established to act on the occupation of Freeport 9 and the aggression that this means for our way of life. If there is a plan, I would like to know what is going to be done and, if possible, help in some way. If, on the other hand, no one has had any idea yet, I would still like to be aware of what may be decided in the future.

It's true that our Holy Church is small, and my followers are just a few thousand, but we think we can be of some use. Furthermore, according to our Faith, it's the Sacred Mandate of Deux that we must act against these types of attacks on peace and freedom, which prevent Holy Unity among humans, so we are forced to do something.

I hope there is something we can do to resolve this situation, and if there is, count on us.

Greetings to all, again:

Allow me to address you one more time, but I just want to give you an update on the situation here in Theta.

I've just been informed by another of the pilots of my Guard that a massive battle between capital ships just took place a few hours ago in front of Freeport 9. Corsair and Outcast forces have been involved in the hostilities, opening fire on each other a few kilometers away from the base. Mortar and cannon shots skimmed the structure and the biodomes, clearly endangering their integrity, as well as that of the Zoner hostages who live there.

The wars between the Corsairs and the Outcasts are almost mythical at this point, and we would have to go back centuries in the time to find the reason for their disagreements. I really don't care in the slightest why do they want to kill each other so badly, but doing it near a base full of kidnapped Zoner hostages is a damn crime, and it worries me.

As you can see, the situation is getting worse, since it seems that the Corsairs have not only occupied Freeport 9 and kidnapped its inhabitants, but have directly transformed it into a military stronghold around which to fight their battles. And for the love of Deux, I hope no one gets the bright idea to suggest that I'm taking a stand for the Outcasts. They are as much a part of the problem as the Corsairs, but are the Corsairs who have transformed a Freeport into a military base using violence.

I believe that it 's necessary to find a solution to this problem that we have at our doorstep, and I also believe that we must do it right now.

I add you, as documents attached to this message, some photographs of the battle taken by my pilot from his cockpit. As you will see, they are certainly something to be worried about.

Greetings, Pontiff,

Your message found me at a time where we are all trying to scramble for answers. The sudden economic changes turned things upside down and we are still adjusting. I also wanted to word my response carefully. I will start with this.
I docked on Freeport 9 myself just yesterday. From my observations, yes, the Corsairs now own it but the crowds are about the same minus Bounty Hunters. My medical staff is safe as is the Zoner crew on station. Fact is, sure the Corsairs can take ownership of the station but they are not farmers and will need the staff to keep the biodomes going. I stayed long enough to check on my people so as to how those on station are being treated, I do not have an answer for that.

I agree on the actions regarding Bretonia and Liberty are repulsive. It has taken the actions of those houses to make me a believer that houses cannot be trusted. When it comes to the Corsairs, I have received more respect and even integrity from them than any house official. I know that does not mean anything now but I intend to use that when I reach out to the Empire. I will have the Zoner people in mind when I address them. They have long wanted Freeport 9 and pretty much have the run of Theta at this point. Be angry as you want with them, we will still have to co-exist if we intend to stay in Theta. I have a hospital there taking care of those on Pygar and a large staff on said hospital. I have many looking towards me at this point and trust me when I say the loss of Gran Canaria and Erie only strengthen my resolve.

Greetings Dr. Holliday:

Your words come to calm me in some way, because I see that there are people aware of what is happening here in Theta. Likewise, I'm very happy to know that the inhabitants of Freeport 9 are in good health. As I've already told you, I haven't yet managed to get any of my staff allowed to dock at the port, so I haven't had the opportunity to verify it myself, or through any of my men, but I'm glad to know that you have been able to do it.

It seems that you have good connections with the Corsairs, which will undoubtedly be very useful in this situation. It would be advisable to try to talk to the Corsair Elders about it, so they could at least guarantee the safety of the workers and inhabitants of the port, and perhaps some kind of commitment could be obtained from them to not battle in the vicinity of the base. I'll probably try contacting them myself, though I don't expect much about the results. After all, I'm a stranger to them.

This whole matter leads me to remember that my deceased predecessor, His Holiness Paolus LXIV, was a Corsair before receiving the call of Our Lord and abandoning his former life. It's a real pity that he's no longer among us, because knowing the character and values that the Corsairs pride themselves on, they would undoubtedly have trusted him more in 5 minutes than they will trust me in a lifetime. I think that, for them, whoever is born a Corsair is a Corsair until death. Anyway, at least I'll try to contact.

As for my anger at the Corsairs, I've never really had anything against them. They're harsh, rough people, and usually take what they want without hesitation, but I've never seen them as our enemies, despite such terrible things they did as the orbital bombing carried out against Gran Canaria 13 years ago, in the Coalition - Corsair war. The occupation of Freeport 9 simply took me by surprise, I admit it, and probably my anger towards them comes from that surprise. I still don't really understand the reasons they have for doing this to us, but as you have mentioned, we have to coexist with them if we want to stay in this system. I only hope that this coexistence will be friendlier in the future than what we're experiencing at the moment. I'm pretty tired of our people being constantly trampled on and humiliated.

I also appreciate that you commit to keeping me informed of the progress you make, I'll also keep you updated, if I manage to do something.
