Hello!

As evident from the screenshots above, DTR is complaining post battle about fairness in PMs and Local Chat, when your leadership has been dismissive about that idea when asked about the same. Allow me to give a gentle reminder of what you've clarified before.

If you want a fight to be predetermined and precisely what you have in your head, go to Conn or organize an event.

It seems your members are not fully aware of your ideology. My humble suggestion to share your ideals with the rest of your members as clearly as you have shared with the community.

Thank you.

Have a great day Smile

The Deterrence has been a part of Disco for quite some time now. Enough time to, in fact, let us get accustomed to the huge fleet battles we now seem to have daily. This sort of accommodation to the status quo will, inevitably, make most of us complacent and unthankful, considering it as given when it should be obvious that this isn't the case.

For years now, the Deterrence has been the beacon of activity on Discovery, surely I don't have to mention their tracker time.

Regardless of who the faction has as members or what their activity consists of, I, personally, think it is fair to give a huge

THANK YOU

to the Deterrence.

I hope that, as a community, we're aware that we should really appreciate a faction that will always come back in huge numbers, no matter how badly they might have lost the battle before.

I can't tell you how awesome I think it is that, in this day and age of Disco, we can still experience an onslaught of Corsairs just appearing out of nowhere and generating a gigantic amount of activity.

I don't even want to brush aside any valid criticism that may apply to DTR and I don't want to get into that because, ultimately, I value the contribution of DTR in forms of activity a lot more than anything I would care to criticize. I would rather have this Disco with them forever than them not existing at all.

So thank you for being our reason to log.

I hope the Deterrence remains as active as the current de-facto-gameplay-antagonist of Disco.

Agreed, DTR get memed on a lot sometimes, make mistakes, but they continually show up to fight. Win or lose they just want to have some fun. Keep doing DTR shenanigans

And you wonder why people say that DTR is a lolwut faction. Looking forward for the day you lose official status when the new OF rules drop

If you want to 1v1 people that are worse at the game than you, go to Conn.

I'll give you a few more hours to look at that photo and maybe you will see what is wrong with it. In case there is too much to wrap your had around it, let me know and I will explain Smile

I'll tell you what I see.

How all fights end, hunting down the remnants of the losing side.

And I'll also tell you what I see, a guy who gets angry because for once he's been the hunted.

DTRs may have many flaws like everyone else, but at least they don't complain when they get swept away again and again in almost every fight they participate in.

And wishing they lose their official status defines you more as a person than it does them for the supposed ganking.

DTR finding nothing wrong with an 8v1 and then later an 8v2 with 8 caps shooting 2 snubs is a certified DTR classic

I know how I behave when I get mad, but I won't apologize for it, because you DTR as a whole have lost all my respect and am saying this as an ex 3rd IC. The amount of copium and excuses I've heard tonight is unbelievable. You are an official faction, you are supposed to set an example, but all you're capable of is dump big numbers of ships onto your enemies. We are a small community. It's not like everyone can spawn out of thin air the numbers that DTR can gather. Learn to f behave like an official faction should

Are you tired of being outnumbered? Brought the wrong ship class? Your enemies keep restocking at bases or running away? Well then, look no further! Your problems are over: introducing the Scheduled Event™! With the Scheduled Event™, you can control who your enemies are, when they show up and even where they are! Say goodbye to random interactions.

the mention of "ganking" has been around since forever (this thread is quite funny to read nowadays). Talking about it in 2024 can only mean that it is a chronic, unfixable, persistent issue that will never be fixed. It's always the same thing over and over again.

the game and server rules allow this "problem" to be solved through two relatively easy options: events, which are protected by the server rules, and Connecticut, protected by the same rules.

outside those controlled environments, everything and anything goes. People react to a ping, log their ships in their favorite faction, and go in for the action. It is that simple.

"Log the other faction!" - "No! I like to be corsair", says Jimmy the new corsair. "Stop firing, Jimmy!" - "No! I didn't log to do nothing! I want to use my new guns!" - and so on and on.

What will even factions do? Kick Jimmy out of the faction? Will this solve anything? Did this ever solve anything, or now we have trigger happy indies going around? Will the OF faction tell the indie to stop shooting an enemy? If the DTR tag didn't exist, would these complaints exist?

In the end, people log their ships to play the game they way they want, and you can't do anything about it. There's no wiggle room for a rule-based approach, either, or people will start getting sanctioned and banned left and right. Mostly groups of new players or indies. I don't even know how banning people for playing the game within their right as given by the rules would be justified.

I've been hearing a lot of "DTR should follow the OF standard/etiquette/etc" - this goes against DTR's principles. It is no secret to anyone that DTR is a community, not a traditional faction. This is reflected by DTR's member count and monthly activity.

DTR faction information Wrote:(...) but if you're looking for hardcore PVP or hardcore RP activity requirements, that's not us. (...)

Instead of blaming others/DTR, try to be like DTR and get new players interested in your faction so you have better numbers in the future. Create scheduled events.

Regarding today at Delta, the battle started even, and Wild/Nomad players logged off when they saw DTR, unbalancing the upcoming battle.

I conclude this lengthy post with a meme:
