Quentin was an ordinary citizen of the Gallic Union. This meant he enjoyed such privileges as endless supplies of cheese and wine, the right to strike, access to legendary outfits and social security. He also had duties, such as expressing his right to elect his representatives to the Union government. Today was one of those capital days.

Democracy and the importance of elected representation had always been an integral part of the CORE GALLIC VALUES. It was as integral to the Gallic spirit as the aforementioned cheese and wine, stiletto heels and assisted healthcare. The choice Gallic leaders had made, centuries ago, of an absolute monarchy tried to stifle the importance of these notions, driven as those leaders were to enact their sinister plans through complete and utter control of society. It was obvious to everyone now that this choice was their first mistake, the one that condemned the Conquest from the onset. The one that drove, early on, a significant portion of the Gallic citizenry to turn to arms in order to claim their right to choose, their right to vote. Their sacred duty as Gallic citizens.

Rivers of blood from all across Gallia, but also Sirius, were shed to that effect. Though still choking on militarism, the Gallic citizenry was now free to choose, free to elect. It wasn't a full democracy, not yet, but it was something. Something for which many had paid the dearest price. Many of them strangers, most of them innocents.
To respect their sacrifice was, needed to be, a matter of the strictest importance. Quentin, like many others, walked to his constituency's voting office this morning, and exercised his rights.
"A voté" ! Entoned the volunteer in charge of ensuring all due processes were observed, as the bulletin slid in the urn and landed, gracefully, atop hundreds like it. Hundreds of votes, hundreds of opinions, well-informed or not, genuine or provocative, motivated or gregarious.

The deed was done, under the watchful and proud gaze of the millions of souls that had laboured, one way or the other, for the birth and continuation of Gallic democracy.
This matter concluded, it was time to celebrate other aspects of the CORE GALLIC VALUES. To that effect, Quentin visited a nearby boulangerie-pâtisserie and acquired sweets of expert craftsmanship (lemon and strawberry macarons), along with the most important staple of all, the very soul of an entire people... Baguettes.

Happy celebration of democracy to all. Remember your duties as citizens. Never fail to exercise your right. Honour the memory of those who fought for this.
To all my Disco countrymates : allez voter.
Go ahead and post democratic celebratory pictures.

If you're asking about Macron (the president, not the maréchal, of course), that's probably a rather short-sighted plan to either consolidate power ("look at me, I'm the reassuring political centre, you may not like me, but I'm your best hope!") or to sow chaos and purposefully give a shot to the far right (alas a plausible eventuality) so the French people finally realise how terrible fascists tend to be at governance. And therefore encourage people to once again vote for the liberal centre on the next elections.

Oh right - sort of like Cameron has done with the Brexit referendum - that sure didn't backfire at all

Yes I voted, I speedran it, it was the first time I broke into a sprint back and forth from home. I just want this hell to be over with.

I don't have any photos because it took about 5 minutes in total. My bad.

God help us, for no one else can.
