Overview

As the final candles of Día de los Muertos fade, and offerings of food and flowers are laid for the ancestors,
the Corsair people prepare for an ancient rite to honor their past and safeguard their future: a blood contest where only the strongest prevail,
forged in tradition and shrouded in secrecy.

Across Crete, from bustling plazas to remote outposts, Corsairs of all backgrounds, old and young, wealthy and humble, gather to test themselves in knife fights,
each duel a ritual of endurance and Corsair heritage.
The fiercest champions, chosen by the Council of Elders, are summoned for the ultimate trial: the Masked Gladiator Contest,
a battle in space fought in the legendary M9 "Gladiator" Corsair Heavy Fighter.

In keeping with tradition, these gladiators fight under the cloak of anonymity, faces hidden behind elaborate masks.
This anonymity makes every warrior an equal, erasing family loyalties. To honor the ancestors, each pilot decorates their Gladiator with vivid colors and lights,
knowing that the bolder their design, the faster they will be targeted in battle.

When the time comes, the gladiators split into two squadrons: Luna, above Kalhmera’s northern pole, and Terra, around Crete’s southern pole.
At the command of the Pontifex Maximus of the Order of Santa Muerte, the two squadrons clash in a sky lit with fire and fury.
Once one group is victorious, the survivors turn on each other until a single Corsair remains: the last unyielding warrior.

This final champion, now hailed as a hero of Crete, may choose to unmask and reveal their identity, their triumph broadcast across the empire by Canal Uno.
This hero earns a statue in the Garden of Heroes at the Elder Council’s plaza, and is offered the honored title of Centurion within the Corsair Brotherhood,
securing their legacy.

The Corsair Brotherhood, entrusted by the Council of Elders, oversees this tradition.
They arrange every detail of the festivities, award prizes, and ensure each battle is fought with honor, upholding the spirit of the Corsair empire.

Tournament location:

Objectives

Participants will gather between Crete and Kalhmera
Participants will be divided into two groups, group Terra and group Luna
Group Terra will form up below Crete's southern pole
Group Luna will form up above Kalhmera's northern pole
Once the signal is given the groups will attack one another
When only one group remains, the participants will turn on each other
The sole remaining participant is the winner

Who can join?

Any player with a Corsair ID and Gladiator ship is welcome to join the contest.
To help us gauge interest, please let us know if you plan to participate, but keep your character's name a secret.
If you'd like to join but don’t currently own a Gladiator and can’t afford one, reach out to us; we’re happy to assist as far as the budget allows.
New players are encouraged to take part, we want this to be an event that the entire community can enjoy.

Rules
- Signing up is appreciated but unannounced contestants are welcome to join as long as they show up before the start signal.
- Contestants must use a Gladiator ship, but are free to equip it with any weapon configuration they prefer.
- IMPORTANT All contestants are required to use an anonymous callsign, either by creating a new character or renaming an existing one.
  The callsign should be completely anonymous, without any names, faction tags, or family names, to keep the mystery until the end.
  Good example: Sangre.de.Creta
  Bad examples: Ronaldo.Perez, Ronaldo, Perez or Sangre.de.Creta[TBH]
- No combat-docking, resupplying or rejoining the fight
- No respawning in your event ship, respawning in another corsair ship to watch the rest of the fight and to rp is allowed and most welcome
- Only after the final duel, the victor may reveal their true name and faction affiliation if they wish.
Outcome

The winner will be interviewed by Canal Uno, be named a hero of the Corsair Empire, and will win a prize of 7 million credits.
They will also obtain the honorary title of Centurion of the Corsair Brotherhood (may be refused by winner).
If the contest ends in a draw, it will be considered a very bad omen for the Corsair people.
