If some of you genuinely consider that raising a POB in those systems is "legit" and "healthy for gameplay" - you should get a reality check. A trip to Iota, inRP, is a death sentence. As long as Discovery is roleplay-centered environment, raising a POB neither in Nomad home systems, nor in Omega-58 and Tau-61 for that matter, should be possible. Unless you're doing it for them.
There are plenty of encounters around the Omicrons, Iota is not the only place. You are in no way deprived of activity, but by spamming POBs in places that have literally ZERO SAFE ZONES inRP, you're just fueling the progressive pepeganisation of roleplay quality that's been taking place for the last 4 years.
Freelancer is a great game and has stood the test of time. Freelancer didn't do that by restricting everything a player of the game can do, quite the opposite in fact. It was revolutionary for opening up the universe and letting you choose your own path.
The problem here is that the development team made a mistake: they put an encounter (dropping a weapon that players want) in a place where the crybabies are. Then, they made it worse by pandering to the crybabies and putting the blame on the players who were having fun & enjoying their time together.
"but with little justification inRP" - so you waited until mass of that POBs need to be classified again and reorganised, good job.
I also agree with ElGatito above, what point then was of placing PVE encounters there? Cause in that case organised players shouldn`t do them since they are not cost-effective without POB. There are 2 logical mistakes already.
Also why OF nomads just can`t siege those POBs 24/7 which is clearly what they MUST do?
I agree that maybe this is a fair initiative to counter POB spam. But it should be a temporary band-aid (if there is an immediate concern) as outright banning the construction of stations isn't healthy. Increased FOW costs or something within these systems for such POBs makes sense in that case. I also agree it's poor design to create something there that is supposed to breed interactions and activity, but take active steps to discourage players from going there (just remove the system in that case lmao). It reminds me of Nomads complaining about people going to Iota and 99 to farm remains back in the day, even though it was an excellent activity and made roleplay sense (as long as it was done with ships from the region). Several infocards justify human presence in those systems (albeit, certainly not permanent).
I see a lot of arguments saying humans going into these systems would just die - and that is fine. Players who go to these systems, either to farm or setup these initiatives, should be met by Nomad players playing their role to move them out. It shouldn't be done nby the Admin team. That feels very ooRP.

And they have been so far. But continuously spamming core 1 POB's with no IFF, a troll infocard and having it be absolutely devoid of any semblance of RP is also ooRP.

Then it should be dealt with through the rules that exist already, rather than a heavy-handed blanket ban. Make an example of the offenders to show the right way this should be done.

I think this a good solution, to where people can still enjoy that farm/grind and the pob case is adressed without going and without a heavy sanction rain, on players who didn’t mean harm, but then again there is no way to differentiate between fun and ill intent
I don't know anyone who has the will to get up at 10 am server time to siege troll PoBs for a week. That's not the activity disco needs. It's an RP server. PoBs existing in these systems is breaking RP and immersion. Good move from the admins. The RP quality has been degrading heavily over the last years. Yes, it's PVE encounters. But they are part of the RP environment of the server. This is not a multiplayer PVE server, it's a RP server.
Look, you suggest that newcomers who don't know anything about RP should follow this very RP on a local level. So it's as if you're enforcing RP within RP. Guys, all of you once came here, first of all, for farming and fun, not categorical compliance with all kinds of roleplaying rules.
And the game allowed you to have that fun. No one was against it, right? So why now, instead of another conflict in a community, why not just be wiser and move the main source of problems (NPC encounter) to Zeta? Let them continue to put their PoBs, but in another system and the Nomads and the Order will have a place of constant border conflicts.
This way, the main plot to respect RP in Iota will be respected, newbies will farm, and those who want to do PvP will be able to catch one side's farmers in Zeta.
