As you have no doubt become aware the Core has upped its presence in Omicron Zeta considerably, we have intelligence suggesting they intend to launch a devastating assault on Cairo Station. What you might not be aware of is that the Nomads are simultaneously launching an assault on Fort Carthage in Omicron Mu with the help of infected Kusari thralls, where the vast amount of our forces are currently tied down beating them back. As such we are unable to launch appropriate countermeasures against the upcoming Core assault and fear the worst.
Any assistance you might be able to provide in evacuating the station or preparing countermeasures and traps on the station would be greatly appreciated.
We are working under the presumption the Core intends to destroy the station, but if they intend to board it I want them to suffer for every inch they explore, preferably before it explodes in their faces.
Any armed assistance would also be welcome of course, but given the ramifications at either frontline I fully understand if you defer from doing so.
It seems the rumors our marines picked up while training at Cairo have proven accurate. Unfortunately, the timing couldn’t be worse. As you’re likely aware, certain Corsairs hold us in rather low regard, placing us in a precarious position. We can’t afford to antagonize the Core—who engage Corsairs on a daily basis—as we also risk endangering both Freeport 11 and Athens, given their proximity to the Core’s primary Omicron installation.
Still, there’s a silver lining. Through our agreement, 2,500 of our marines have received advanced training from your forces. The first wave is already instructing new recruits at our stations, and at present, 250 marines remain at Cairo, ready to assist you in any capacity. If needed, we can likely spare a few more.
We’ve also built up a substantial weapons stockpile—around 50,000 weapons crates of Daumann, Detroit, and even Gallic weaponry—currently stored at Pygar, Corfu, and Livadia. We can send you those stationed at Livadia your way. Given the Core’s brutal actions at Gammu, there should be no objection to redirecting those shipments to the Order.
Moreover, we can help evacuate non-combatants and relocate critical equipment. Kadesh has enough space to take on the entire station’s population, should it come to that.
I’m not fully aware of the size of the Core fleet you’ll be facing, but if you believe you can hold the line, we’ll ship whatever you need.
Otherwise, if evacuation is your plan, we can assist in stripping Cairo to the bare minimum and leave behind some fissile material to create a trap that might take out as many Core vessels as possible.
Please let us know what you expect from us, and we’ll act accordingly.
The plight of the Zoners with the Corsairs does not surprise me after the events at Freeport-9, though I must confess I had not realized it had escalated to such degrees.
We appreciate your efforts and commitment to provide assistance in these trying times all the more.
We can use whatever weapons you can spare, the more fortified the station, the longer it can hold out.
Evacuation of civilian staff is already underway however what assistance you can provide regarding moving materials from the base would make a significant difference.
On the plus side, with the Nomads being so occupied with the assault of their thralls in Omicron Mu, you should hopefully have relatively safe skies en route. A rare occurance in the Omicrons.
I believe we arrived just in the nick of time; Kadesh scanners are already showing a marked increase in activity.
We have delivered the promised armaments, though the urgency of this operation may have resulted in a few missing shipping documents. As far as our records show, the following items departed from Lividia:
On our return voyage, our traders loaded approximately 17,000 tons of materials that your quartermaster requested be evacuated.
These goods are now secured in a storage bay; I will provide you with the access key to retrieve the cargo at your convenience.
Your aid is greatly appreciated and was paramount in defending Cairo for as long as we have managed.
There is, however, no rest for the wicked. Order intelligence is indicating a large Nomad assault is about to begin in Omicron Zeta, there is no hope to defend Cairo anymore.
Initial assessments indicate that Capetown is at risk too, much like Cairo its defences were significantly weakened by our counter assaults. While I normally wouldn't lament the forceful removal of the Core from the Omicrons, I feel reluctant to cheer even their death at the hands of the Nomads. To make matters worse, I doubt their deaths will buy us much time to further the evacuations.
Any ships you can spare to help with finalizing the evacuation would literally be the difference between life and death for many on the station.
Cairo's staff has been instructed to assist and load any of your vessels with personel and materials to evacuate to Taba Station in case you are able and willing. The Order staff on Taba will ensure the spreading of the evacuated materials and staff to the other Order Facilities in Omicron Mu. Additionally our pilots will endeavor to intercept and strike down any Nomad vessel that tries to assault the evacuation efforts. Should any of your pilots feel the 'urge to purge', they are most welcome.
On a personal note Jonathan, be careful out there.
While I'm fairly confident the Nomads will be preocupied with Cairo and Capetown for now, this does mean the threat will likely reach your doorstep soon as well.
And to top it all off the Core's new AI toys went rogue and turned against them. The threat of the Nomads, while vile and detestable, is at least somewhat predictable.
Beware the Mars, the gods only knows what these machines will do next.
These developments are truly horrifying, and they bring to mind the siege of Kadesh by those same abominations.
I will immediately divert some of our bulwark assets to assist you, as well as expand Kadesh’s patrols to offer support wherever possible.
Regarding the AI, this certainly explains the strange signals we detected after the battle. We have never had any serious conflicts with the AI we’ve encountered thus far, nor have we played any role in their subjugation. The Livadians may have additional information, given that they witnessed the sacking of Gammu. If we do encounter these AI, and any attempts at negotiation or diplomacy fail, we will try to lure them toward the Nomads.
I also want to raise concern. Despite Core greed contributing to the crisis, I hope you wouldn't mind if we would provide humanitarian assistance, if to be specific - in question of evacuation. Although after all the years of their activities they used to sabotage Freeport 11 existence, all of us shall help each other before the Nomad threat. Based on your scans and statements, Kadesh remains the last operational bastion of humanity in Zeta, and we will need every man and woman available to defend the final bulwark between innocents and these horrors.
I won't deny your response surprises me, you wish to aide the Core after all they've caused and all they've done to Zoners in the past?
We won't stop you, though we trust you won't forget who has actually helped the Zoners and acted as an ally to Phoenix over all these years when it comes to divvying up the evacuation ships. Don't count on the Core to come to your aide when the Nomads turn their sights towards the rest of the system, they'll still be too busy licking their wounds or getting slaughtered by the Mars. Maybe, and that is a -huge- maybe, they'll still be able to regroup and form some token defense in Omicron Delta, but I wouldn't suggest you bet your money on it Jonathan.
I understand this request may come across as far-fetched, and even heretical. Rest assured, however, that all our resources will first be directed toward evacuating Cairo.
Only after its evacuation is complete will we consider lending assistance to the Core’s civilian population—an act that also presents an opportunity to gather intelligence on their future plans.
It’s not just the Nomads we aim to address with the Core’s assistance; we also have another frontline with the Corsairs.
The Core has the means to drive them back to Gamma, and you can’t risk creating yet another enemy in the Omicrons by taking a more direct action against those artifact smugglers.
Cairo's evacuation is a significant task, we estimate at least 4000 crew will need to be evacuated, not to mention what materials that can be saved.
Additionally I would like to request you bring the evacuees to Dabadoru Station in Omicron Delta instead of Taba Station if at all possible, I have a feeling the system will require significant reinforcement in the coming days and the extra staff and supplies might just make the difference to turn things in Humanities favor.
Of course, should you estimate this to be too d,angerous you are more than welcome to bring any evacuated personel and supplies to Taba station instead.
While Dabaduro can use the reinforcements most, what's matters more are the lives of the people on Cairo station, the ones in immediate danger.
As for the Corsair situation, once the immediate threat has been dealt with perhaps we should sit down and have a discussion about what has been going on in the southern Omicrons as of late.
It settled then. I will instruct our ship to try their best to reach Dabadoru. Else they will land at Taba Station.
All that will depend of nomad activities near Delta jump hole and in the Delta system itself.
