I have had quite enough of this....The fact that I have over 400 hours in a fighter, far more than in my other ships, often rp with people in game etc, including escorting and helping players that ask, is completely ignored and all I see is a load of complaints in this thread. Do you see me or most other DW posting endless complaints on other factions? "do this do that"... No......why? because most of us respect other people enough to let them get on with their rp in their factions as they see fit. What I am seeing here is not what I consider condusive to a fun online gaming experience. I am discussing DW future here and will post shortly on our decision.

Its a shame, it really is, that you would be called a capwhore when you spend so much time in a fighter. But as you can see, thats the impression you have given. I suspect the fact that your fighter is level 90 does nothing to help this situation, because whomever sees that in the players list will assume its a huge capship.

People aren't lying to you, they're talking about their impressions of your faction, giving feedback. In many cases, it is often prefaced with a "I have only ever seen X" with which you respond with "Thats a Lie, I have 400 hours on my fighter." You're claiming that their experience with the DW is wrong, because another experience is possible. I'm sure Praetyre could find a logical fallacy in that. It just seems wrong to me.

So, with caps, you seem to give the impression that you are a cap faction, which, if you even try to change, (change the impression, not what you are.) will take a lot of work, convincing many people. Every DW has a fighter and a bomber, and I'd suggest you be very active in those. Pro-actively engage other factions in them, and do it a lot. It would also help if you created some bank characters so those fighters were around level 50-60, rather than 90, which people will assume is a cap fleet. Acting as you do right now has given the impression that you are a cap faction to a great many people, as this thread attests to. If you want to change that, you will have to change how you act.

The other complaint oft raised in this thread is that you are not from the Disco universe. You've a RIFT interdimensional jumpgate thing, which you use to send people to some other place, from whence you came. We've no problem with DW's history, in an orrp fashion, but when you incorporate it into disco RP, you get many people's heckles up. How hard would it be to create an RP where the DW had not jumped in from another universe?

I take your post to indicate you are thinking of leaving, which I think is a shame. Even worse, you are leaving because of a feedback thread. If you'd never posted, all of these impressions and beliefs would still be around, but you would be ignorant of them. You've been offered a chance to change, and are reacting as if we are suddenly hostile. We've always felt this way, you just weren't aware. Now you are, and you can make it right, or not.

The main problem seems to be related to information, thus creating a lot of confusion.

Informations missing in the Faction status, which makes people wonder what/who/where you are
In-game mis-informations with ships level, making everyone think you're in a capital ship

There are far too many people in these forums pissing all over other peoples roleplay and taking the fun out of the game.
You forum lawyers / spammers ask for information and then gleefully rip apart any information that is given.
Leave the DarkWing guys alone to play the game and let them HAVE FUN.
As long as they are not breaking any rules on the server and continue to roleplay as bounty hunters then let them be.

I have not updated the information in the [KoF] faction feedback yet, and I must say I am extremely reluctant to do so now.
I expect the forum lawyer / spammer / sharks are circling waiting to see what I post there so that they can gleefully charge in and rip apart what our [KoF] roleplay should be, what ships and weapons we should use, and where we can go, and who we can fight etc etc.

Hi. Exactly. This game is about having fun, but here's the kicker: it's about everyone having fun. If you can't handle other people need for fun too, then maybe you're not cut out for this community? See, people here have fun not just with the endless pvp, but also with the immersion this server offers. With the fact that they have a reason to pvp. If your faction breaks that immersion, you no longer provide fun. Now if you're no fun to the rest, it's natural that people will give you suggestions on how to improve your style of play so you can improve both yours and theirs experience on the server.

If you're going to take suggestions as a hostile act, then that means you clearly don't want to be part of the server. Now how about you take your opinions, and shove them in a different topic? Since this is the Darkwing feedback thread, and I don't see you providing any.


On the topic itself: Lets drop the issue of fighter and capship hours for a moment. I run a faction one system away from Omega-15. DW are bounty hunters, that much I know but to tell you the truth I have no idea how to respond when I see your players in the same system as I am. Do I attack or do I ignore? Usually, I just ignore, since there is utterly no reason for us to be interacting with you due to no knowledge at all of what your faction does or what it is. Of course, now and again there is the random attacks when we try to fend off waves of non faction BHG capships. I dunno guys, clear that up. You're bounty hunters, so I expect you to take bounties yet you don't. You just sometimes attack all of a sudden with no point whatsoever. If there is a story behind that behaviour, then I would love to have some sort of a way to actually get into it. If it is meant to be a mystery then you should at the very least leave some clues... Do you see where I am going with this?

since most of the so called "suggestions" are unjustified complaints, who would want to be part of that? - rhetorical question
As for your question, we have not usually instigated attacks against anyone unless we are provoked or attacked or have a bounty on said player, or at war with them..... and yes we do take bountys, I receive pms concerning bounties, however the target usually logs off when chased.

What I would like from DW is some detailed history concerning its role in Sirus and its politics, diplomacy, neutrality, hostility, alliances, etc all. Its back story and origin are fine. However, it needs a Freelancer story.

I really do not care about imports or developed from factions. As long as they put a good amount of effort in logically and realistically integrating their history and story with the other factions in Freelancer.

I'm going to mirror what someone else said: DW have potential to be a great Bounty Hunter faction if you would work on certain aspects of your faction post and rp/story.

Import or not, like it was said in the quote above "integrating their history and story with the other factions in Freelancer" would greatly improve things with the rest of the community and show that you are atleast willing to try. Arguing the points brought up by the community without changing anything on your post will only make things worse until you SHOW that your "trying" by making changes and updates. It doesnt have to be an in-depth history, you can still keep parts of it secret for others to learn or figure out but some things must be listed for the general public to see.

Obviously, they are Bounty Hunters, so thier ZOI should be just as obvious, in that they can be found "anywhere" that there is money to be made from collecting a bounty. Even though this should be obvious to just about everyone, it should still be listed on DW's faction post as a "courtesy".

Obviously, being Bounty Hunter aligned they will be "friendly" with most lawful factions and "unfriendly" with most criminals/pirates. Why are you so against fleshing this out, here, i'll get the ball rolling and even do a bit of it myself...

As to the target logging off when chased.. well, that's the reality of being a bounty hunter.. people will frequently just run and dock if they know they have a specific bounty on them, so much for your hunt, little you can do about that. But that's personal bounties. Since you are an organised group of hunters, I'd figure you guys wouldn't rely on just single bounties which would be hard to pursue with your heavy handed force (cause let's be blunt here, good luck finding someone who doesn't want to be found). Here's an idea, how about getting hired by a house to their dirty work for them? Like getting hired by e.g. Bretonia to take out Corsairs in Cambridge or something like that. You can then generically take out targets of opportunity and score the cash for it. Bretonia would definitely have no problem with it, Liberty probably wouldn't either but you have a bad history with them. Kusari loathes bounty hunters, so if you want to I bet you could actually take bounties against them from Bretonia. Rheinland would probably be too proud to hire you, but you can still ask.

Try these ideas. It will give you guys something to do certainly, and will make you look more like true bounty hunters.

I think the best thing you guys could do is to develop a joint role play saga with another faction you can work with and play it out for the public. A "one of" thing.

Gives people a chance to see you perform.

Might change a lot of minds.

The only other thing I think you guys need is a "rules of engagement" so you don't look like pvp types over killing.

The "Flying Circuses of WWI" had a gentleman's code of honor and ethics that showed their professionalism. Some same sort of thing would do for you.

Early in his career, Richthofen was criticized and looked down on for always taking easy kills--reconnaissance and bomber kills.

Later in his career he himself expressed regret for having indulged his reputation so zealously with such things.
