So let it go to a more active and concerned group of players. For the greater good of the server and it's role playing harmony. Not only that, since the current faction has fallen apart, still concerned members of it can join the new one if they are let in. If not I guess they can find something else to do. It's really on them since they let it die.

Edited to make this post slightly useful: I'm fairly sure that as faction tags don't have any official meaning. In fact, that's how I found DSE, I used the DSE) tag and ran around until I found someone else with the same tag! It's fun, try it sometimes. You'll get interesting looks.
