Been a damn while since we last were in touch. Suppose you never did end up trusting Uhmen even after I told you you could, but who am I to judge you.

Regardless, the past belongs to the past. Things have yet again changed, a long while ago, and I am back at the Akhetaten as the ship's commanding officer. Of course, Uhmen being in the Admiralty, she's still above me, but that is just the way I want it. Wouldn't want to have to deal with the amount of paperwork she's got in her hands.

Enough talking about Uhmen and me though, how have you been? How's life treating you? I hope everything's alright and that I find you in good health.

You might've guessed by now that I didn't just get in touch with you to say hi.

Certain things have happened over the past month that have changed a lot about our modus operandi. The Government has given the Akhetaten and Task Force Akhetaten the all clear to operate independently and outside Liberty space, at our leisure. I know it might sound odd, but Uhmen managed to convince them, truly an achievement worth celebrating if you ask me.

With Task Force Akhetaten having been separated into Task Groups Akhetaten One and Two, we are for the time being spearheading Group One and operating in the general area of Coronado, Inverness and Ontario. I've seen plenty of your boys around, and even caught glimpses of the Unto Nightfall in Magellan recently. I thought I'd give you a heads-up that we'll be operating in Inverness for the foreseeable future, maybe you can show up and join in on the very fun adventures.

I should also inform you that we're under LSF orders, whatever that may entail for an entity such as Section Eight. We have not been debriefed on how to handle the Order, and I am currently unaware of what your relations with the LSF are. Perhaps that'll be worth looking into if we are going to coordinate our efforts in Inverness and Ontario. Naturally, the Crayter Military is expected to be helping us out as well, so do give me an update on what your relations with them are.

I see you have returned from your early retirement. I take it the boredom was too much for you?

As for Vice Admiral Uhmen, my trust extends as far as it is earned, and neither she nor her subordinate, Captain Brown, convinced me. I believe Captain Brown even threatened to fire upon the Unto Nightfall. Not to mention the complete lack of follow up on the intelligence Section 8 provided on the Earhart sector. And now you inform us that the Akhetaten, under Uhmen's command, will operate beyond Liberty's jurisdiction and interfere in foreign affairs? Forgive me if my enthusiasm remains reined in.

It is not difficult to guess, but I would nevertheless like you to brief me on Task Force Akhetaten's mandate. What exactly do you intend to accomplish in the western independent systems? Once we know what Uhmen's objectives are, we will reconsider cooperating with the Akhetaten.

It seems you've received a promotion since last time we spoke, which might have been ages ago by this point, congratulations. At least I assume it's a promotion, provided you're still just as effective of a Captain as you were back in the day.

I've returned to active duty for a while now, perhaps maybe a few years, even. But I am not surprised that you wouldn't know of this. I very rarely take the helm of the Akhetaten nowadays. Brown, as much as you might dislike her, is usually the one to do so, and I have to admit I fully trust her judgement.

I do not know why she'd threaten to fire upon the Unto Nightfall, nor the background you two share, however. Digging up old Section Eight archives hasn't particularly been a priority of mine since returning to duty. But I do trust that if there are outstanding matters which might effect your opinion of us you will bring them up with me. In light of proper and effective cooperation, of course.

I'll give you a very brief overview of what our current operational mandate is while we remain in Inverness, for the sake of not boring you with the many details provided to Uhmen by the LSF.

• Allied units are Liberty Forces and Crayter Republic Forces.
  
• Zoner Forces and Kusari Forces are considered medium priority alien compromised hostiles.
  
• Technocrat Forces and Zoner Militant Forces are considered high priority alien compromised hostiles.
  
• Xeno Forces are considered high priority hostiles.
  
• All other forces are considered low priority alien compromised hostiles.

Our presence in the system has one ultimate goal; to identify, analyze and destroy everything that is alien compromised, be it infected humans or even alien forces themselves.

It'll definitely be a tough task, but I trust you wouldn't mind lending a hand in this suicide mission.

Suicide is an apt description of your mission. The Akhetaten is no doubt a capable ship, but a single task group will hardly suffice to weed out and eradicate the long list of targets you have been provided. The LSF already proved this with its deployment of the Tuscaloosa battlegroup. What level of assistance has the Crayterian military promised?

Did the LSF present any evidence for the Zoners' compromisation? While they may reside within a system that has a Nomad presence, this alone does not indicate being under its influence. The many Zoner inhabitants of the Edge Worlds prove this. Though I would hardly be surprised if the LSF was merely using this operation as a pretense to eliminate unwanted neighbors - or perhaps suspected supporters of the Pennsylvanian militants.

Further details will need to be discussed ship-to-ship before Section 8 considers a joint operation with the Akhetaten. The Unto Nightfall is currently stationed in Ontario. We can arrange a rendezvous there in the coming days.

I think our mission has chances of success as long as it's not expected of us to completely cleanse an entire system. To my understanding, this is luckily not the case. As far as I have been debriefed by the Vice Admiral, the Government made it very clear that Task Group Akhetaten One is to act as a surgical force with the primary role of gathering intelligence, only conducting surgical and calculated strikes against hostile forces upon extensive analysis. We are not a battlegroup with the firepower to engage in head-on conflict with the combined forces of the Technocracy of Auxo, the Zoner Militants, Task Force Prometheus, and perhaps even any alien warforms that might lurk in the system.

The Crayterian military has been contacted by Uhmen in an attempt to not only acquire permission for our ships to use Sabah as a refueling and repairs station, but also gauge the... interest of the Crayterians to support our cause. We do not have a solid response to build upon just yet, but I can inform you when we do.

I am in no position to elaborate on what the LSF's motives are and why we have been given the aforementioned rules of engagement. I can forward your concerns to the Vice Admiral and she can do with them as she pleases, if that would help your consciousness. Regardless of if the Zoner Militants of Freeport 14 are alien compromised or not, the Republic identifies them as enemies.

As for the ship-to-ship meeting, not only can it indeed be arranged, but it is also long overdue.
