Kusari's Finest Hour: Part I Galileo - Colorado Open Combat Event
OVERVIEW
"The most important thing we have to do first of all in a war with the U.S., I firmly believe, is to fiercely attack and destroy the U.S. main fleet at the outset of the war so that the morale of the U.S. Navy and her people goes down to such an extent that it cannot be recovered."
- Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto
The die has been cast. With both the Republic and Empire at each other's throats over Galileo, it appears that war is inevitable and but a matter of time. Intent on gaining the upper hand -- but also to stall for time, as Kusari's armed forces are far from ready for a proacted offensive campaign -- Lord Mitsuo chooses to activate Plan Hikari, an operation kept in high secrecy until this moment, and with the sole goal of striking out at Liberty's Ohio formation to cripple it.
History has shown that there are no invincible armies, and it is Kusari's utmost priority to ensure that Liberty does not move its fleets into Galileo, or further beyond. As the fate of the sector hangs in the balance, rumours also persist about total mobilization within the Empire, and of soon-to-come missions from New Tokyo to shore up support within Bretonia and Rheinland, or to secure their neutrality in the months ahead.
There is only one certain matter amongst these myriad thoughts: Kusari shall not yield.
Dates:
27th July, 1900 UTC Server Time.
Details:
The KNF and KOI will launch a patrol into Galileo, intending on drawing away as much of Ohio's contingent as possible;
A KNF auxiliary vessel will attempt to break through into the Colorado system, choosing the path of least resistance through;
The arrival, within Shikoku, of more KNF assets does not go amiss, and the LN mobilizes to respond. Following another border incident on the 25th, they may also desire retribution.
Rules:
If you're killed, you're out. No returning to the battle again;
All loadouts allowed;
All IDs with ZoI within Galileo and Colorado may participate;
OPTIONAL rule & additional information on the auxiliary vessel: should it manage to enter Colorado proper, the KNF will ready itself for a major escalation, hoping to cause significant damage to LN capital assets as the Empire deploys more forces to Shikoku from its fringes.
This event is meant to be the first part of a story arc that will set Kusari and Liberty to war.

I feel like it should start off more so like KOI going into Liberty itself trying to track the jump drive - especially after the little Border incident, makes them more confident to go digging. Then escalate more and more from there? From repeated KOI incidents and then kick off more Galileo scraps of Liberty Navy trying to lock down Galileo.
The KOI (with accent put on KuWild participation) will play a major role in the second and third parts, which are focused more on Colorado and other Libertonian systems. I will have to see how much attention this gets, and from there it is only a matter of communicating with story and the Liberty side on what may be done next. As it stands, Kusari's primary concern is responding with force to these brazen LN attacks (or so the propaganda will paint an image of).
This event mainly focuses on sending in that recon liner, and if it does survive, then there are good chances it will set up shop within Liberty and serve as the launchpad for side-stories centered on the mentioned jump drive (think KOI/KuWild vs LH/Xenos in Colorado or Ontario or somesuch and a chance for KOI or Wild players to forge ties between local unlawfuls and Kusari proper, or to potentially leak these moves to the Hackers and Xenos in advance and lead to the capture of the liner. I will play along with whatever the players choose to do, in the end, though the bottom line is that there is to be somewhat limited capital-class fighting going on until much later on, if possible, and that that the focus of this arc is on the player characters out and about, that will directly influence how Kusari or Liberty respond.)
I wish these events weren't at 5am my time (but that's more a me problem I guess). Looks like I'll have to pass on this one too. Have fun, folks.
You fear oblivion. Yet you forget. The universe remembers every atom of your being. Even dust hums your name in the dark. Roleplay is dead. Long live Powertraders and PvP I guess.
Those gaijin have it coming to them! They ignored the treaty , and now want to create a narrative against our emperor and our homeland as the aggressors?!!! This stinks of gaijin corruption and greed to its very core!
The House of liberty , her forces, and corperations shall answer for their crimes! These acts of aggression shall be met with sharpe, precise and the swift blade of justice just like the days of long ago!
